I just found out about Mr. Jenkins' death. I had him as a professor @ the Thompson School from 1967-69. He was a knowledgeable and caring man who taught me as a young, inexperienced student the ins and outs of forest technology. He was right at home in the woods & his enthusiasm was contagious. I wish over the years I had been able to connect with him and thank him for all he taught me!

An active soul
Can still move on in peace
While the energy remains
Here on this worldly plain
In the forests
On the shore
Among the mountains and hillsides
Around all that is still
An active soul
No longer restrained
By failing vessel
And guided by love
Is a miracle
Wherever it is found.

My condolences to Mel's family. I graduated from TSAS forestry on 1981 and remember those times and Mel fondly. I spent an evening with a classmate on Tuesday of this week, after not seeing her since graduation. We reminisced for hours and wondered about Mel. How odd it seems that this was just one day after his passing. He was a terrific teacher and a kind man.
