MACMILLAN, ANN M.

Anne Meredith Hawkins Macmillan (age 94) went to be with the Lord on Mother's Day, 2011. She was a dear and loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great - grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She lived a long, faithful, and fruitful life. Anne was born in Eutaw, Alabama, in 1916. Her family moved to Gainesville, Florida, when she was a young girl. She was graduated from Gainesville High School and Stetson University, where she double majored in Art and English, was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority, and met the love of her life. For 55 years Anne was the devoted wife of Judge Hugh MacMillan, who was originally from Winnipeg, Canada. Anne and Hugh were married at First Baptist Church of Gainesville in 1939. After several moves while Hugh was an agent for the FBI during World War II, Anne and Hugh settled in West Palm Beach where they raised their four children: Hugh, Jr. (Carol) of Tallahassee; Neil William (Carole) of Ft. Pierce; John Meredith (Marti) of Mountain City, Georgia; and Anne Meredith MacMillan Baldy (Trey) of Tampa. Anne moved to Tampa in 1997.

Her Christian faith was central to her life and she was an active church member. Anne thoroughly enjoyed gardening, painting, and flower arranging. She graciously practiced hospitality. Other interests included travel and Florida Gators football. She was a member of the Palm Beach Historical Society, Daughters of the American Revolution and Amaryllis Circle of the West Palm Beach Garden Club.

In addition to her four children, Anne leaves a legacy of 12 grandchildren: Sarah MacMillan Griffin (Dan) of Tallahassee; Hugh Robert MacMillan (Kristen) of Washington, D.C.; Cassi Bergeron (Pat) of Luling, Louisiana; Neil A. MacMillan (Karyn) of Orlando; Lynn Crochet (Stephane) of Versailles, France; Katy Trout (Dave) of Palm Beach Gardens; Gavin MacMillan of Ft. Anne's family would like to thank the staff of Hudson Manor on Davis Islands for the excellent care and loving support they gave to Anne.

A memorial service will be held in Tampa on Sunday, May 15, at 3 pm at Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church, 350 S. Hyde Park Ave, Tampa FL 33606. Interment will be in Gainesville on Monday, May 16, at 11 am at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice. Dear Anne, Hugh, Neil, Meredith,
I remember your mother as a "Regal" woman. Standing outside the brick facade of Memorial Presbyterian Church, I would look up at her in awe; a lady, a gentle mother; Now,as an adult I can describe the emotion that I felt;Respect.
Your family is a chapter in my life as well as my family's.
A remarkable woman..

Dear Anne, Hugh, Neil, and Meredith,
I extend my sincere sympathies and I pray that the Holy Comforter eases your grief. The enduring friendship between your mother and father and my parents was a blessing to our families, and to me.

Dear Annie Mac and all the Macs, Your mom was such a special lady in my life. She always had something good cooking and was the eternal hostess to all of Annie's friends. I loved her slow southern drawl and her infinite patience. She will be sorely missed but I know that she and the Judge are dancing in Heaven!! (Or possibly catching up on their backgammon games!!) You are in our prayers. Love to you all....Marti (Timmerman) & Don Kula
