When our Mom first came to Emeritus(then Summerville), Helen quickly befriended her and made her feel welcome. In Mom's first days there, we remember her telling us how quiet it was in the dining room - no one said anything - except for one interesting lady (and Mom smiled) Then a few days later, Mom told us about how she liked that her room's windows joined the courtyard, because she had a friend who would knock on her window, wave, & say hello when out for a walk... (and again, Mom smiled) And of course the friend was Helen. After we got to know Helen, we found that she made US smile too.

We were blessed that Helen befriended our Mom, and then blessed again when she became OUR friend also.

What a loving, caring, unique force of nature. She was a special one-of-a-kind "original". We already really miss her.
