Lucius Rivers Obituary
Lucius B. Rivers Jr., beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away May 21, 2011 at Haven Hospice in Gainesville at the age of 87. Born and raised in Gainesville, Mr. Rivers, known as Luke, graduated from Gainesville High School. After serving in the Navy during World War Two Mr. Rivers returned to Gainesville.
He is survived by his wife Margaret Rivers, daughter Cathy Shannon, son-in-law Mike Shannon, grandson Luke Shannon and sister Margaret Sharp, all of Gainesville. He was preceded in death by Lucius B. Rivers, Sr. and Minnie Rivers of Gainesville, his parents, and brother Bill Rivers.
Mr. Rivers worked for many years as a purchasing agent for Crom Corporation, a local tank building firm. After retirement Mr. Rivers enjoyed a second career working at his children's local home building business. A lifelong Gator sports fan, Luke Rivers enjoyed the recent championships of the Cater football and basketball teams.
Funeral services will be held at Antioch Baptist Church, 3612 NW 177th Avenue, off SR 121, at 11.00 AM Tuesday May 24th, and a special viewing will be held at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home WESTAREA in Jonesville, 823 NW 143rd St. from 5:30 to 7:00 PM Monday evening May 23rd.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Haven Hospice or to Antioch Baptist Church.

Dear Cathy, Mike & Family. We were so sorry to hear of Luke's passing and will keep you all in our hearts and prayers. I worked with Luke at Crom for many years and will remember him as a gentle soul.
