JUDITH REMBERT Obituary

REMBERT,
JUDITH ABBOT CREIGHTON
Judi, who lived a full and giving life, passed quietly at Haven Hospice early Friday morning, July 21, 2017. She was born in Gainesville on November 29, 1943. As a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt and friend, she grew up and lived in the Gainesville area most of her entire life. Judi and Davis, her beloved husband of 57 years, were also best friends and business partners, gaining wisdom as they traveled, wide-eyed throughout the world.
All who knew Judi were well aware of her generosity in giving of herself to others: member of the Jr. League of Gainesville; active participant in the Stephen Ministries at Trinity United Methodist Church; leader in UYO [Understanding Yourself and Others], many mission trips to Honduras, Guatemala and Peru; hostess, Haven Hospice VIVA events; recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow award from Rotary International, the E.T. York 'Service Above Self Award' from the Rotary Club of Gainesville; the 2011 Gainesville Legacy Award; and the 2009 Jay Kirkpatrick Good Samaritan Award.
She was a graduate of Gainesville High School, an honorary alumna of the University of Florida; graduate of French Fashion Academy in New York, and a real estate broker in Gainesville. She was vice-president of United Fuels Corp and Sprint Food Stores. She had a great love of cooking while creating new dishes. Judi was a talented artist and created many beautiful paint-ings. She never met a stranger. True hostess with the mostest. A true southern belle. And, did she ever love her garden in North Carolina!
She is survived by her husband, Davis M. Rembert, Jr.; and their three children, Mary Lanier Rembert, Ken (Belinda) Rembert, Jonathan Rembert and Thomas (Nancy) Rembert, Davis' brother; siblings include, Carol Creighton Hadley, Sandy (Elizabeth) Creighton and Marnie (Jerry) Creighton Felder; and brother-in-law, Barton (In Cha) Rembert. Also survived by her grandchildren, Will Rembert, Davis Rembert, Brianna Rembert, Emma Rembert, Zander Rembert and their mother, Lavonne Rembert. Survivors also include many nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends.
The Rembert family wishes to express a most special gratitude and thanks to all Judi's loving caregivers: Gloria Mells, Ella Ramsey, Cathy Cannon, Betty Fleming, and Corky Cheshire.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, July 24, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, with Rev. Catherine Price and Rev. Steve Price officiating. A reception will follow the service at Trinity. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorials to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606 or Trinity United Methodist Church, 4000 NW 53rd Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32653. Davis I am so sorry for your loss. I remember when Judy came to talk to my wife in her hospital room how important that was.. What a loving action ,A caring action. You and I talked in the hallway of the hospital and you assisted me in this similar journey.I'll never ever forget that..Both of you.Your caring, loving, and empathy and compassion. Susan would so often say well Judy's driving, I want to be driving soon to or Judy's taking a trip I want to take a trip to and we did. You truly wrapped the ill in bandages of love.Dr Stephan Showstark

Davis, I am so sorry for your loss. You may recall that I lost my wife Mariea so many years ago (age 31) the same way, but found comfort in knowing that there is an existence after this that is beyond our understanding here on Earth. May God Bless you and your family and give you comfort in knowing that one day we will be united with those we love in the presence of God.
