Dear Sue,
I can't imagine what you must going through and I'm not really sure what to say but I want you to know you & your family are in my prayers.

Heard just a few minutes ago of your loss. Mrs. Wacker, 10th grade English taught Wordsworth's SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS and the words have always remained with me, "--we will grieve not, rather find strength in what remains behind."

Life does not prepare us for the death of a child so hopefully your memories will assist you through these difficult times.

You are, and will remain in our thoughts.

Sue and family, I am so sorry for your loss of sweet precious Jimmy. Know you are in my thoughts and my heart is broken for you. I will share a poem that was shared with me and I cherish it:

To die one’s self is a thing that must be easy,
And light of consequence;

But to lose a part of one’s self –
Well we know how deep that pang goes,

We who have suffered that disaster,
Received that wound which cannot heal….

It is one of the mysteries of our nature that a man,
All unprepared can receive a thunder-stroke like that and live.

It will take mind and memory months
And possibly years
To gather together the details
And thus learn and know the whole extent of the loss.

-Mark Twain, 1888, on the death of his daughter Suzy Clemens

Sending you love and gentle hugs from Knoxville....

Justin Wallace, my son, shared a friendhsip with Jimmy. Justin is deployed in the sea of the Middle East at this time. He learned of the tragic news yesterday and he is very very sad. As his mother and in honor of their friendship I will be attending the funeral. I am so sorry for all the family and friends that are grieving such a loss.
