ALWARD, Nancy M. Nancy M. Alward, beloved mother to Nancy (Roberts), Robert Alward, Martha (LaPerle) and Amy Alward, died peacefully on January 21, 2007, surrounded by family and loved ones. Nancy was born in Arlington, MA. on October 12, 1927. She was the daughter of Ralph and Viola Greene. Nancy was married to Robert P. Alward and they lived for 22 years at Riverslea Farm in Epping, N.H. While Nancy was busy raising her family of four, she also was raising Golden Retrievers and Polled Hereford beef cattle. Following these years in Epping, Nancy resided in Rye, N.H. where she lived for 28 years. Nancy worked in the Seacoast Real Estate field for more than 28 years. She spent 21 years at Prudential Rush Realty tenure, and most recently she was associated with Keller Williams Realty. Nancy served on many committees. She volunteered at Seacoast Hospice, at their annual Market Place Sale. She served as Hospitality Chairwoman for the Exeter Hospital Fashion Show and was also a volunteer 4-H leader for many years. Nancy loved to bake and was a pastry chef for 17 years for the Stockpot Restaurant in Portsmouth, N. H. Nancy also enjoyed helping at St. Andrew's By the Sea on the wedding and hospitality committee. She was a long time member of Christ Church Episcopal, in Exeter and also Trinity By the Cove in Naples, Fla. where Nancy wintered for many seasons. Nancy loved being a grandmother to her six grandchildren, Bethany, Katie, Martha, Christopher, Ryan, and Matthew and her three great-grandchildren; Jacob, Johanna and Tim Jr. She enjoyed traveling to Connecticut to watch her grandchildren participate at the Hartford County 4-H Fair and also at the Big E. In addition to her four loving children, Nancy leaves, daughter Nancy's husband David, Rob's wife Terri and their three daughters; Bethany and her children Jacob and Johanna, Katie and her fiancé Tim and their son Tim Jr. and Martha. Her daughter Martha's husband, Michael and their three sons, Christopher, Ryan and Matthew, and her daughter Amy and her partner Lori. Nancy was pre-deceased by her sister Pearl Greene. She also leaves a dear sister-in-law, Bernadine Alward of Westport, and many other friends and family members. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy's name to her favorite organization: Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, N. H. 03833 Relatives and friends may call between 5-8 p.m. on Friday, January 26, at Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter, N.H. A service will be held at St. John's Episcopal St Portsmouth, N H, on Saturday, January 27, at 3 p.m. A reception will follow the service. Burial will be private.
