Snider, Albert Howell

Col. Albert Howell Snider, U.S.A.F., retired, 92, of Bradenton, died 2009.
It is to the sound of "TAPS" that we say farewell to a great American hero. The family, friends, military comrades and former students of Col. Albert Howell Snider, U.S.A.F., retired, are greatly appreciative of his service to our country, his love and devotion to his family and friends and for the values he held sacred and demonstrated to those who knew him. He lived what he believed.
Born in 1916 in Indianapolis, Albert Snider graduated from Lane Technical High School in Chicago in 1935 and graduated from West Point Military Academy in 1941. A pilot and veteran of World War II, Pacific Theater, and the Korean War, he served with great distinction, retiring as colonel, United States Air Force, and moving to Bradenton with his wife, Mary, in 1967. Armed with a master's degree in education, Col. Snider taught mathematics at Manatee High School for 12 years, where he retired in 1979.
Col. Snider is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Snider; a daughter, Kathleen Slater, a Bradenton resident since 1969; sons Robert and Richard; eight grandchildren (two born and living in Bradenton); and 18 great-grandchildren (seven born and living in Bradenton). Col. Snider was 92 years old.
A memorial celebration will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Northwest Baptist Church, 7913 9th Ave. Northwest, Bradenton.
Brown & Sons Funeral Homes and Crematory, 43rd Street Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations to TideWell Hospice would be appreciated.

Dear Snider family,
Col. Snider taught me Algebra in 1972-73 at MHS --
Please know that he touched many people's lives, even though long ago, and we are grateful for that.
May the Lord grant you peace and joy during this time of sad, but temporary "goodbyes"

Blessings,
