I remember Ed always having a big smile on his face as he would greet you. He was always warm and welcoming to everyone he met. He was kind to everyone and was willing to listen to what people wanted to talk about. He was eager to lend a hand to those who needed any help and always offered advice, if it was requested. He was an outstanding Military officer and was a perfect example for all those he served with. Ed was a great Boy Scout leader for the Boy Scout Troop at Ramstein, Germany. I had the pleasure of working with him as the Treasurer of the Boy Scout Troop for 2 years. Ed is truly missed, but we will see him again in Heaven one day.

It is with great sadness to hear of the tragic loss of Ed, Eva Lou, and Mitri Saad. They were a wonderful family and it was a joy to have known them while we were stationed at Ramstein together. I attended his retirement and he was so looking forward to moving back to Texas and resuming civilian life there. With Mitri, I was one of two parent-scout leaders that took him to a week long Day Camp in the back hills of Germany. He was very polite, kind, and always a great help. He and my son Aaron always got along very well and went through scouting together. We sincerely offer our condolences and know that our Lord and Savior, Jesus, is keeping them safe in his arms from now on. Thank you and may God Bless the Saad Family.

Yesterday at a small gathering of former missileers from Ellsworth AFB I learned of the tragic deaths of Ed and his family. To a man, we all expressed our admiration of Ed and the numerous contributions he made to our Nation's security. He was a dear friend and comrade-in-arms and touched all who knew him. He will be sorely missed, but never forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with those left behind.

I knew Eva Lou, Metri and Ed as members of the Catholic Community at Ramstein and through CWOC. She rejoiced in others' joy and was the most artistic hostess I've ever known. Can't convey in words how shocked I was to hear of their deaths, there is so much despair in this world. I pray for the soul of Eva Lou's dad -- something tells me she would want that. I'm so sorry...

They were the nicest of people who will surely be missed by all who had the opportunity to know them. They will remain in our hearts and prayers forever. I salute you, Ed, for all that you gave for your family and your country. We'll forever be "Fish Buddies!"

It was such a shock to hear the news about Eva Lou, Ed, and Mitri. Eva Lou was my sponsor for a Cursillo in March of 2002 while she was stationed at Ramstein. She was such a wonderful, decent person who truly loved Jesus and conveyed that through her life. The loss of these people, who were all just good Catholics doing what they thought to be what God wanted, is going to be felt for a long time. The world was a much better place with them in it. I know my life is better thanks to the Saad family. They are in my prayers daily.

It was with great sadness that we recently learned this tragic news. We knew the Saads from Ramstein AB, where Ed worked with my husband and the family attended church with our family. Eva Lou, a wonderful sweet woman, was my "secret sister" one year, part of our participation in Catholic Women of the Chapel. I remember Mitri as being one of the nicest and most polite young people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. We would like to extend our condolences to all their other friends and to their family. Their passing is a great loss to humanity.

I am greatly saddened and shocked to learn of the sudden death of Eva Lou, Edmond, and Mitri. I knew them at Ramstein, Germany where they were very involved in our church. To the Saad Family and Friends,

It is with the deepest sadness that my wife and I learned of the untimely deaths of Ed, Eva Lou, and Mitri. I had the honor of serving with Ed when he was a Captain and Major in the 490th Missile Squadron, Malmstrom AFB Montana. Ed was always a consumate professional, an exceptionally talented officer, and a superb leader. Eva Lou selflessly dedicated much of her time and effort in Montana to the welfare of members of the 490th, and my wife and I will always remember Mitri, as a beautiful and happy child. It is indeed impossible to know what to say to ease such a loss. I hope in some small way it will help to know how very much these individuals meant to the men and women of the 490th Missile Squadron. My wife Becky and I pray that God will bless Ed, Eva Lou, and Mitri in heaven, and also be with all those who will miss them in all the years to come.

Sincerly,

Glenn A. Trimmer, Colonel USAF, Ret.

490th Missile Squadron, Commander

1993-94

My condolences to all of the relatives and friends of the Saad family. I had only just met Mitri IV about a month prior to his passing, through membership in Karate. Mitri IV was probably the most polite 14 year old that I have ever met. In the short time that I observed this family, I saw a loving bond that they shared. Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Saad III were very caring parents, and were very involved in Mitri's life. I am deeply saddened by the loss of this family, and I will continue to pray for the healing of the surviving family members. God Bless you in your time of pain.

Our family was deeply touched by our time spent with the Saad family. They were an incredibly giving family. I had the honor of having Lt Col Saad as my boss, fellow Scouter and friend. They were a light in this world and will be deeply missed. We look forward to seeing them again in Heaven and our prayers are with their families for the loss they have suffered. The phrase "They are good people" defined Ed, Eva Lou and Mitri. I try to give to my family, job, and community as they did every day. God Bless

I was shocked speechless upon learning of this horrible tragedy. I knew the Saad family while stationed at Ramstein AB in Germany, and rarely have I seen such a holy family. Martyrs for Christ, Ed, Eva Lou and Mitri enjoy the beatific vision of God, for whom they lived among us. I pray that during this time of intense sorrow, those who remain will find comfort and healing. "Introibo ad altare Dei, ad Deum qui laetificat juventutem meam." Indeed they have gone up to God's altar in Heaven.

I was fortunate enough to know Ed and his family early in my Air Force career. He was a classmate of mine in Missile training and was assigned to my follow-on base in Montana. To the members of the Saad Family,

My name is Tom O'Connor and I knew Ed and Eva Lou for many years through the Catholic Cursillo Movement in Germany. Ed was always cheerful and was always willing to help out. He worked on many Cursillo teams in various capacities. I worked with Eva Lou on one Women's Cursillo to make sure that Wuerzburg Candidates were registered for the Weekend. They were such a wonderful family and I will miss them very much. I will ask Father Fukes to offer the 1800 Mass tonight for the repose of their souls. May the Peace of Christ be with you.

I was shocked this morning to hear of Lt Col Saad and his beautiful family's tragedy. I worked with Ed back when he was a young Captain in the Air Force serving a tour of duty at Offutt AFB. He was our protocol officer for a while at the Joint Strategic Target and Planning Staff and I assisted him in setting up distinguished visitors local arrangements (base quarters, schedules, tours, etc) while visiting JSTPS. He was very dedicated to his family, his community, and his country. He was always shedding a ray of hope and sunshine during those times we needed it most. I extend my deepest sympathies with my thoughts and prayers to the families.

Our family was shocked when we were advised of the tragedy. We knew the Saad family quite well, being stationed together at Ramstein Air Base Germany. Ed was a member of our Knights of Columbus chapter and helped at a variety of functions and activities. Eva Lou and my wife, Lisa, worked the chapel hospitality evenings together, and their son Mitri was an alter server with our children. They always set a fine example and we were sorry to see them leave Ramstein but knew they were going to TX to help family. They will continually be remembered and held in our prayers.

I am truly heartbroken by this tragedy. I have so many fond memories of the Saad family. I knew them through Cub Scouts at Ramstein, Germany. My son Andrew truly admired and looked up to Mitri. Mitri would just hug and kiss his dear Mom, and tell her how pretty she was (I vividly recall him saying her face was so pretty she looked like a flower). Each and every one will always hold a place in my heart. God bless them, and my prayers are with all the friends and family they left behind.
