James Gallagher Obituary

GALLAGHER
MR. JAMES "JIM" GALLAGHER passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 12, 2011. Jim was born on September 18, 1925 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to James F. Gallagher and Marie C. Vollom Gallagher. Jim was a championship wrestler in school and in the military. He also served as a paratrooper in the United States Army during World War II. He was a successful entrepreneur in New Jersey where he owned a Tool and Die shop in Linden, New Jersey and a tavern call the "Anchor Bar
in Plainfield, New Jersey. Jim's parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Pazetta "Pat" Gallagher, two daughters, Karen McCloud, of Almeda, Ca., Anne Marie Gallagher of Greenbrook, NJ, one son; Thomas Gallagher(Debra) of Greenbrook, NJ and former wife Mary Gallagher. Five grandchildren and three great grandchildren; five brothers and sisters; Walter(Julia), Arlington, Va, Joseph(Judith) Linden, NJ, Joan Degaetano(Joseph), and Alice Church (Warren) Florida. A devoted brother-in-law and care giver, L. R. "Buster"Jackson, brother-n-law; Hubert Taylor(Louise)of Midland, MI; sister-n-law, Aurette Parr, Houston, Tx. Three step-children; Italia Russell(John), Hiram Veltz, of Houston, Tx, Derek Lipscombe(Marita)Dallas, Tx, six step-granchildren and many nieces and nephews. Jim made many friends over his lifetime in New Jersey, Las Vegas, and his new home in Houston. Thanks to special firends; Pastor Raymond and Linda Giddens, Duke and Jean Alexander, Charles and Christine Langford, John and Alice Woodard, Delores Paterson, Rossie Mason, Wendy Nelson, Melvin Lonan, and god-daughter, Sheri Folk. Jim was affiliated over fifty years with these New Jersey lodges, Lafayette Lodge #27, Free and Accepted Masons, Atlas Pytagoras Lodge #10, F&A.M., Salaam Shriness, Livingston, NJ(Life Member)
The funeral will be on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Garden of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 4715 Griggs Road, Houston, 77021. The viewing will be a 10am until 11am with the service immediately following. Pastor Robert E. Daniels, Sr. officiating. Pastor Raymond Giddens of Las Vegas, Nevada, eulogist. After Jim's service in Houston, there will be a Memorial service in New Jersery, on August 6, 2011 at 12noon at Saint Paul Baptist Church in New Jersey. Pastor Reginald Hall, officiating. His remains will be interred at the Houston National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the building fund of the Garden of Gethsemane M.B. Church or a charity of your choice.
