Semper Fidelis, Christopher. Last time we crossed paths was over twenty years ago. This is my twentieth year remembering your leadership and ultimate sacrifice. I will always remember your ability to motivate others and commitment to never leaving a fellow Marine behind. I only knew you for a short time going back to our time as poolees and recruits at MCRD but your ways impacted me in a positive manner for life. God bless your family

I still wear Chris' photo on my school ID everyday. When students ask about the photo, I get to share the inspiration of Chris' life with them. That he made some poor choices when he was young, but turned his life around, served his country with honor, and made his family proud. The fact that he was a Hodges Bend kid really gets their attention and respect. I wanted you to know that you are often in my prayers. I will never forget.

Christopher,
First things first, I want to wish you a Happy Birthday! I want to take the time and stop by on this Memorial Day Week to thank you for your service and sacrifice you made for us of your young and meaningful life.
Words alone will never replace you in the lives of your Mom, sister and child.
Selene, your beautiful little sister just gave birth to your second precious niece. I realize your twin Michael, has a couple of kids of his own as I'm sure you already know about. As the years slowly move from the day we lost you the sacrifice you gave to the world is appreciated and we are just the more beholden to you Christopher. You were the very best of the time you were with us. I am honored to have known you for the very short time which I knew you.
May you rest in Peace knowing you could not have offered and willingly gave more to us. May you rest and be filled with Joy in the presence of our Father. I remain SEMPER FIDELIS!

Good mornig Chris, today my 15 year old son and I participated in the 3rd annual watermelon run for the fallen in Hempstead TX and they gave out Tshirt tags instead of run numbers, and you were on my sons tag....I'm sorry you couldnt be here today with us...you wouldve loved the Air Show, they had Jumpers and all...one of the paratroopers landed in the trees instead of in the field area. It was beautiful, today you, among many, were remembered and also introduced to us, nice to meet you Chris...my condolences to your loved ones...RIP.

As always at this time of year, Chris and your family are on my mind. Preparing for Veteran's Day at Hodges Bend is always linked in my mind to learning of Chris' sacrifice. I also pray for the gold star families, those who are recovering from injuries, and all who are on active duty. I will never forget.

Christopher,
As these three most important dates of Fall are upon us: November 10, the 235th USMC birth date, November 11, Veterans Day and the fifth year, November 14th 2005,we have missed your wonderful presence in our lives.
Chris, I wish for you to know through
the sacrifice of your dear and young life we continue to be afforded the right to practice the religion of our
choice and the right to vote, which I
most certainly just did.
These rights and countless other
freedoms I enjoy through you!
On each of these dates you will be thought of, honored and missed by us your friends, Marine Family and most of all, your loving family.
The empty void left by your passing will never be properly replaced!
Our thoughts are of you and your family
which made their own ultimate sacrifice in having lost you; the son,
the brother, grandson and loving father and were and still remain to each them!
I remain Semper Fidelis! Art J Ramirez

I only had the honor of knoing you for a short time. We grew up in the same town and went to the same school and I remember speaking with you briefly on a few different occasions. Little did I know that we would both serve our country from different services, but one of us would pay the price of freedom for this wounderful country. I just read tonight on a website that you passed so I thought I would pay my respects to you and thank you for everything you have done for us. you will not be forgotten!! god bless you and your family brother!!

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Christopher, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Today is Veterns Day 2008:
Christopher, my fellow Marine.
I awoke this morining with you and your loving family on my mind.
I can't help but to tear up thinking of the profound and eternal sacrifice you and your family have made for us.
In saying this, I realize the heartache of your loss will never subside for your loving family. It bothers me and hurts me there is nothing I can do to ease their terribly broken hearts.
Today, I think of you and your son.
Ethan Matthew, is a beautiful and lovely child. I just can't help stopping my tears, for little Ethan lost so awfully much in losing you, his Daddy.
It is at times like this, feeling all this hurt, I may doubt there is Heaven. Forgive me Christopher, for you know the truth and in knowing and seeing our sadness I feel your caring hand upon my shoulder that gives me strength to carry on and Honor you for your fine example as a man and as Marine. The solemn pride that must be yours Christopher, in having made such sacrifice upon the Alter of Freedom.
May that certain Peace which eludes us here on Earth be now yours, as you bask in the Light and the Glory of our Heavenly Father. Tell those six young Marine friends of mine lost from Earth almost forty years ago "Hello and Semper Fi" for me. As you now see for yourself, they are great company.
Your welfare is my concern. I remain Semper Fidelis, Arthur J Ramirez

Hi Chris, I just want to say that you are truly missed. It seems like just yesterday when we graduated in 04 and when Major and Top put I believe, you, your brother, Sabo, Pryor and myself on the color guard detail for our graduation.

I also remember those times when we went out to drill meets and stuff and when the one song "Friends in Low Places" used to come on the bus and everyone would start singing! Those are the cherished memories I have of you and everybody we had fun with.

Well Chris, I myself am over here in Iraq at the moment. I want to thank you for all you did. Know you will never be forgotten.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

I have never forgotten your kindness or Chris. Just know that I am still praying for your family and I think about you often.

Man I sure do miss Chris, but the best part of knowing him and going to school with him was knowing that a smile would be on your face after being around him. He will be missed forever, but he will never be forgotten. His wife and son will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear McCrackin Family,

I am still in shock that someone that I have known for years is gone. Last time I saw Chris was back at SOI out at Camp Pendleton. Looking back at all the good memories with him and Michael as well, I am going to miss Chris. I will never forget him.

Dear McCrackin Family,

I am so sorry to hear about Christopher's death. I can remember him from Mission Bend Elementary when I was his sister, Selene's fourth grade teacher. What a smile he had! We owe so much to the people that are fighting and/or losing their lives in Iraq. What tremedous courage...what incredible faith! May God bless you and keep the happy memories of Christopher alive in your hearts forever.

Belinda, Terry and Family,

I learned of your loss just today when I talked to Belinda about visiting Houston and getting together. Tears came to my eyes as the words came over the phone when I talked to you Belinda. I did not know what to say to make anything make the feeling of this loss to good friends go away. I know in my heart that Chris was doing what he was called to do. As I sit at home tonight, I think about how he (and so many others) fight so we can enjoy the freedom we have today. I respect his beliefs and God will look upon you and help you through this. I remember Christoper and Michael laughing and playing with Thomas when they were younger. Those memories will never be forgotten.

My sincerest condolences good friends. Be strong, Chris would want you to be.

To Christopher's family and friends-

My family and I are praying for you and your family during this difficult time. We send our deepest empathy as we lost our Marine on 11/30/05 in Fallujah. We are comforted to know that our Marines are serving their country with such honor and bravery. We are so proud of our Marines and all of our other service men and women for all that they have done and continue to do to keep us safe and to give us the freedom we have that so many take for granted.

They are true Heroes and need to always be remembered for their selflessness and sacrifice to better our world. We will forever be united in the loss of our heros. We are so sorry for your loss and hope our words will ease some of the pain, and maybe fill some of your emptiness.

Yesterday, Today, Forever – Semper Fi - Marines!

Our sincerest gratitude for their bravery-

The family of Cpl. William "Billy" Taylor
