Eleanor Alves a longtime resident of San Leandro passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Willow Creek Alzheimer and Dementia Care Home in Castro Valley where she resided and was lovingly cared for the last years of her life. Eleanor surrendered to her battle with Alzheimer's. Eleanor was born March 26, 1923 in Oakland California. She was a passionately devoted and loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Wife, Sister and Friend. She will be greatly missed and forever etched on the hearts of her beloved family. Eleanor is survived by her loyally courageous and loving best friend and daughter, Rose Ann Darbison who devoted herself completely to the care of her dear Mom. She is also survived by grandchildren, Paul Souza, Leah Alves Sandoval, David Alves and Nicole Alves Casey, ten great grandchildren and several other relatives. She is preceded in death by her son Anthony Alves and her husband of 65 years, Joseph Alves. Services will be held on Friday October 28, 2011 at Santos-Robinson Mortuary 160 Estudillo Ave. San Leandro beginning at 11:00 AM, followed by burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward.
The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the wonderful staff at Willow Creek and the many kind and caring workers at Kaiser Hospice, Hayward who took such good care of Eleanor.
