Thank you Martin for your wonderful contributions to society. You were an honorable, passionate and very memorable person. San Leandro will never be the same with out you.

It is difficult to think about my growing years and not have thoughts about Martin. Whenever I visited Tom over the years Martin would always greet me and ask about my parents or what I had been doing lately. I don't think anyone that visited the Francis home was allowed to leave without learning something they didn't know about the American flag. I can remember Martin working at great length building his flag display and his never ending excitement in sharing it with others. His love of July 4th brought us together more than a few times, making much more noise than I think we were susposed to. I will always remember Martin as a great husband, father, neighbor and one of the most sincere, actual patriots I have ever known. It is true that San Leandro has lost one of it's pillars of the community and we have all lost a very special man. My heartfelt thoughts to Ione, Tom and the entire family.

Martin and Ione- were model neighbors.Their house was always open to all of us kid in the neighborhood. I lived near them in the 60's and early 70's. Tommy and Linda were part of our crazy Greek family. I remember Martin was always ready to share with us his latest project and educate us on the history of the country he loved. I will never forget the Christmas display and the cars and people coming from near and far to enjoy the beautiful site.May God give Tommy and Ione-strenght and many years to keep the memory or Martin alive.
