To the Daunt Family:
It is with deepest sadness that we say good-bye to our friend.
We met Charles twenty -four years ago while dining at the restaurant.. His smile, his outgoing personality and his inventiveness drew us to him. Of course, it goes without saying that the wonderful meals we enjoyed at the hands of this incredibly talented chef equally attracted us to him. Whenever we visited the island he would take us boating on his antique wooden Christ Craft powerboat or his l00 year old wooden sailboat. He loved that sailboat, and he could be found working on it in his spare time. The inclusion of family in all things possible endeared him to our hearts, and allowed us to enjoy the company of all of the Daunts'. He enriched our lives and will be sorely missed. The island will never be the same for us. Our hearts break for you at this time of loss. Jim and Patricia Kittel, New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

Dear Gail and family,

We only knew Charles in his role as the most amazing chef in Hilton Head for 20 years. We visit Hilton Head 3 times per year and we noticed he was not cooking last week. We are so grateful for the many wonderful meals he prepared for us. They were the highlight of our visit. He always took the time to smile at my 86 year old Mother who also loved the food he prepared. I'm sure he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
