Ronald Ehlers Obituary

ELKHORN - Ronald Allen Ehlers, 76, passed away Monday, July 25, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 10, 1935, in Fort Peck, Mont. to the late Louis Theodore and Violet Viola (nee: Newman) Ehlers. On October 15, 1955 in Grand Rapids, Minn., Ronald was united in marriage to Mickey Newman. Ronald spent his early life traveling due to his father's job. Following marriage Ronald and Mickey resided in Grand Rapids before moving to Burlington. They have been residents of Elkhorn for the past two years. Ronald worked as a Concrete Superintendent for Circle Concrete. He lived his life for his family and his work. Ronald's greatest joy was watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren playing. Survivors include his loving wife, Mickey Ehlers; their children, Kim Susan Ehlers, Randy James (Mary Catherine) Ehlers, and Donna Annette Ryan; grandchildren, Shelley Ann (Arthur) Sparks, Tara Elizabeth (James) Thrift, Tia Marie Ehlers, Deana Annette (David) Dion, and Christopher Joseph Ryan; great-grandchildren, Samantha Marie Miller, Chrystal Ann Sparks, Ian Alan Ehlers, Dayten Kaleyll Halula, Alexandra Catherine Banks, Connor James Ehlers, Taylor Elise Thrift, Alexander Kai Halula, Caleb Pearson Thrift, Aiden Riley Thrift, Hannah Rose Peterson, Bria Leigh Dion, Daniel Joseph Dion and Logan Christopher Ryan; and sisters, Beverly Janis Sharbonda and Jeanie Lancour. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday, from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials to the American Cancer Society have been suggested. The family would like to express a special thank you to Allay Hospice for all their care and compassion.
