Marilyn,,,I will always be greatful for having served with a great Commander and human being...I have read, what many of the past members and men I am proud to have served with have said and I stand with them... I also will always remember a soup supper with you and Roger one night when I was on the way to Arizona... He was so proud of his retired momentos from the Guard and you make a great bowl of soup...Thank you for sharing him with us.. I will always remember fondly both of you. Jeff

Roger was more than My first commander in the guard he was mentor and friend. He always put the well fair of his troops first and you could tell by what we could get done on our deployments. He will be greatly missed. SMgt Tinlin (Ret)

Dear Marilyn,
Barb and I are so sorry to hear of Roger's death. I truly enjoyed serving with him in the Air Guard. Roger hired me into the Guard and I have always been greatly indebted to him for that. We enjoyed the weekends and trips to conventions with both of you. I enjoyed the times with Roger at the end of the drill. We would eat and go to a movie where Roger would sleep.

Dear Marilyn,
You and I will have a good visit and cry together when I am back in KC~~~~you already know how I feel about you and Roger. But as I think of Roger this morning a smile comes to my face~~~I think of the sweet patient man who was always so eager to help us get ready for our "Bridge on the Lake " outings.~~~He loved his boat~~~and yet he was happy to send us off, knowing full well that our day might find us flooding the motor, drifting aimlessly down the middle of the Lake, pushing off the shoreline with a broom handle, or tearing back to the dock in a down pour!! He was a patient man indeed. Always a smile on his face~~and a story to tell. He lived his life well and loved you, his family, his home and his church unconditionally. He is unforgettable and irreplaceable~~~~~Skip and I send our love and prayers across the miles today~~and in each day ahead. All the best, my dear~~~and to Jeff and Jan and your dearly loved grandkids.
Much love, Karen

A great leader, quarterback, and superb individual that commanded a lot of respect from all of us in the Civil Engineering Squadron of the Iowa Air Guard. He set the goals high and inspired us all to achieve them. I was very proud to serve with him as my Commander, and his memory will live on.

Meant to leave a message on my earlier entry but hit wrong button. Roger was my first commanding officer when I transferred into the Air National Guard. It was a pleasure serving under him. He will be missed

Doris and I wish to extend our deepest condolences to Marylyn, my classmate Don and the family. Roger was a treasure, a spark plug and a true leader. Typical of his actions was this: at the recent hall of fame induction for the entire 1956 football team attended by my Northern Virginia youngest daughter, her husband and the 3 grandkids plus Doris and I; as we walked into the hall not knowing what to expect, somehow Roger was among those meeting us ...and somehow the video of me scoring a touchdown was being shown...and somehow Roger, with a gleem in his eye said to me --"Hey didn't I throw you a pass for a touchdown? To which I replied, "Yeah, the ball bounced off somebody. It slowed down enough so I could catch it & then run 15 yards [without tripping] over the goal line". How Roger aranged for that priceless moment in front of my grandkids is beyond me. And, I am equally sure without Roger none of us would have made it into the Hall of Fame. I will miss Roger and his quarterly bits of e-mailed wisdom. Ken Jobe USACOE LT COL [Ret} Virginia Beach VA
