WILLIAM WILLIAMS Obituary

William 'Bill' Emmanuel Williams II passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014. Bill was born December 8, 1943 in Kirksville, MO, to Lillian Rucker and William E. Williams, Sr. Bill accepted Christ at an early age; he was a faithful member of Graceway (formally known as Kansas City Baptist Temple) under the leadership of Pastor Jeff Adams. Bill graduated from Chillicothe High School where he was a linebacker on the football team. Bill furthered his education; he attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science, Chicago IL, and Hofstra University, New York, NY. Bill started his career with the U.S. Government as a postal worker then he tested for the U.S. Custom Agency where he became the first African American male to join the Agency as an Import Specialist. After 39 years of service with the U.S. Government, Bill retired November 28, 2003. Retirement did not last long. Bill took his experience as a Customs Import Specialist and joined Miller & Company P.C. Attorneys at Law Firm February 2004 as a Senior Legal Assistant. God blessed Bill in 1994 with his wife Vessie (VJ) Williams, who also just so happens to be a Kansas City Chiefs fan. Bill was the biggest Kansas City Chiefs fan. You never saw him without Chiefs attire on. Bill was such a big fan he became a Kansas City Chiefs Red Coater where he volunteered countless hours with the organization throughout the Kansas City area. He never met a stranger because he always made you feel important. Bill loved God, Family, and Football. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Lillian Elliott, William E. Williams, Sr. three sisters Marilyn Brown, Christine Watson and Helen Elliott, one grandson DeJuan Williams. Bill leaves to cherish his wife Vessie Williams, daughters Linda Williams and Jacqueline Jones, son Ronnell D. Jones, Sr. (Ruth), sister Darleen Easley, granddaughters, Y'Nette Perkins (Woodrow), LuVessie Griffin (James), Keyarra Henderson, A'liyah Fleeks, grandsons Quintin Donely, Jr. (Cierra), Ronnell D. Jones, Jr. (Brittany), Lonnell Jones (Sharnell), Donnell Jones, and Joshua Williams, great-granddaughters Tionna Williams, Takyah Williams, Jayda Jones, Javea Griffin and Ariyell Griffin, great-grandsons Alvin Perkins, Jr., Jaelen Good and Quintin Donley, III, and a host of relatives and friends.

Vessie, I had the pleasure of working with Bill at Miller and Co., and of meeting you when he invited my husband and I to join you tailgating prior to a Chiefs game. He was a remarkable man who always had a big smile and cheerful word for everyone, regardless of his own mood. He loved you very, very much. I think of Bill often, and will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Vessie and family, I had the honor of working with Bill on the Raytown Human Relatons Commission for a number of years. He was a delightful human being. He was always very upbeat and happy. My sincere condolences to all of you on the loss of a fine man.
