MARJORIE DAVIS Obituary

MARJORIE (LICKTEIG) JEAN DAVIS Marjorie (Lickteig) Jean Davis, 89, Lenexa, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family October 1, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 9150 Pflumm, Lenexa, Kan., with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to Mass. Entombment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa. Jean was born Marjorie Marie Jeannette on Nov. 15, 1924, in Richmond, Kan., to Leonard and Emma Lickteig. After graduation from high school, she moved to Kansas City and attended business school. She met her husband, Kenneth P. Davis, and were married Nov. 10, 1947, and made their home in Kansas City, Kan. Jean devoted her full energy to raising and taking care of her family and home. She loved sewing, canning, baking and cooking for her family. She and Ken enjoyed taking car trips visiting family and just sight-seeing. They visited England while their son was stationed there with the Air Force, and took a trip to Acapulco, Mexico, which she said was one of her favorite trips. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Susan Wohlford, grandson, Albert Wohlford, sisters, Kathleen Weisner and Elaine Ferguson, brother, Dick Lickteig. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth, son, Donald (Terri) Davis, daughters, Barbara (Dale) Williams, and Rita (Doug) Massing; grandchildren, James Wohlford and Chris (Allyson) Wohlford, Meagan (Derek) Spake and Tyler (Tina) Davis, Brent (Suzie) Williams and Kristi (Brian) Hunter, Ben Bortka, AJ (Adri) Bortka and Annie (Gary) Genser; step- granddaughters, Britni (Karl) Eggers and Sydney (Matt) Owen; great- grandchildren, Henley Spake and Teagan Davis, Emily Williams, Alexis Bortka, Marcus Bortka and Joshua Bortka, Bryce Bortka and Caelyn Genser. She is also survived by her siblings, Juliann (Jack) Sauer, Virginia (Joe) Sebben, Rita (Dale) Harrison, and Tom (Jeanne) Lickteig, sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Lickteig, LaVerne Davis, Jacky (AD) Hook, and brother-in-law, Larry Davis, and their families. Donations in her honor can be made to Crossroads Hospice for their great comfort and care to Jean and our family these past weeks.
