Damn coach it´s been 10 years an I´m just realizing this an I know your truely missed but not only me but all the young men´s lives you´ve changed! I can now say I´ll miss all the spit an sweat in my face in those long practices and games and that´s when you where doing things right lol! I was a skinny tall kid from the other side of town but he took me and my brother in on the team. That´s where I got my nickname that has stuck with me for over 35 years (TREE ). He said I looked like a big tree standing over everyone an my late friend David chandler stood on the other side as (OAK) so he had oak and tree playing DE and we RULED every year! I´m going to miss you coach and even thou it´s been 10 years and over 35 years since I hung up the cleats you will always be in my heart

Coach was a great man and he kept a lot of kids off the streets and gave them a purpose on the field. He will be missed by many. His heavy hand helped guide youths through a tough community and go on to be better adults. RIP COACH

So sorry for the loss of Coach Howell Young. Our son played for Rule since he was a grasshopper till he went on to high school. We have great memories of all the practices and games played with Coach Howell. He was an awesome man with a lot to give to his players and he did all he could to give them the best. We sure do appreciate all that he did. He even renamed our son Derick Landon to Derick Block. We will always remember ever so fondly, Coach Howell. God Bless you Jackie with his peace and comfort at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. RIP Coach.

Hal and I worked together at KCDC for many years. He was a valued employee and in addition to that, he loved the kids in the neighborhood. He gave freely of his time, his resources, his love and skill as a coach. Many thanks for all the good you did while you were among us.

Coach Howell
a man who really had a heart for rule. To know Coach Howell is to know rule, they were one all together. We Coached together on the rule midget team that went 13-0 and won the Championship. Coach Howell was a very funny man, he would make me laugh so hard about the stories he would tell me, I laugh about them today when i tell them, Rest in peace.

Coach Hal was a faithful member of West Side Baptist Church. He was a humble, loving, caring, giving and well respected person in the our church & the community. He has touched more lives through his generosity and football than we will ever know. He loved the kids or our community and they loved him. He bought their uniforms, paid their fees, gave them rides and fed them when they were hungry. He gave all he had to anyone in need. What a vision of the Love of God here on this earth. It's truly an honor and a blessing to have know him and called him my brother in Christ.

Coach Young was a mighty good man. I had the opportunity to see him and speak with him summer before last. His memory was fading then, but we managed to reminisce a little about the Rule Peanuts program. Coach Young had a positive impact on a lot of folks. RIP, Howell Young, you earned a spot in Heaven. God Bless You Coach.

I remember the Howell family from growing up in the same area, and also remember them from our schools, and Howell was a very nice person as we grew up,and I believe he carried that with him throughout his life and was truly a great representative of what being a true "Rule High" Golden Bear was all about. He carried that on to teach others just how important it was to play in sports was all about, which he enjoyed during his life.I know now that he has gone on to GOD, he is still doing the things he had learned as a youth while he was on earth and learned at school. I'm so sorry for the family that has lost a fine man, and may GOD comfort you at this time. My deepest sympathy, Elaine Noe McMurray
