Eric, I stumbled upon your little Shaye creation while being home sick with the flu, then I found out her creator, You, had passed some time ago. My deepest regret is that I did not discover your work sooner. Your work will certainly live on, a true artistic talent, there is no telling what you could have accomplished in this life. Your legacy will certainly continue on in this art.

Mr. Fournier was an incredibly dedicated artist who made me laugh harder than I have in years. The sheer amount of work which went into these videos speaks volumes about his determination! Shaye will live on for many, many years, which is a testament to Eric's work.

I first became a fan of Shaye Saint John some time this year, likely September or October. OToobach, the YouTuber who created the film review series Unboxed, Watched and Reviewed, put up a review of the Shaye Saint John film, a.k.a. The Triggers Compilation. Even though he didn't like sitting through the whole DVD very much, he did say that the strangeness of it made it worth recommending, and he would have enjoyed watching individual videos rather than watching them all in one sitting. The clips he played on his review were enough for me to check it out. First, I saw some of the YouTube videos, such as Hand Thing and Skin Tape. I also saw that other users had posted clips from the DVD onto YouTube. I didn't have time to make a Halloween costume, but I would have made a very good Faux Shaye and I would have stood out saying "Hello Again!" to the people of Grand Rapids. Well, there's always next year! Shortly after Halloween, I was sent a copy of the Shaye DVD, and I just love it! I love it more than the YouTube series! These were the early Internet video download classics, or so I hear. Even when Shaye confuses me, I love it; it's called surrealism for a reason. It made me sad that Eric had passed away, but I know that Shaye is still alive. Larry Wessel's upcoming documentary, titled Eric and Shaye, will not only introduce more people to the work of Eric and the Shaye videos, but it will give fans like myself even more insight. I believed what that article in Vice said; Eric may be gone, but Shaye is alive! I've seen evidence of it! I have seen some new, not-officially-released videos of Shaye that were made very recently. Though we are all sad about the death of Eric, his spirit lives on, and we are quite positive that, in some form, Shaye will come back! The videos are not over! I have seen blogs that say Shaye Saint John is dead, but this is not so! Carl Crew said it best, and I would like to thank him for those Facebook video posts that prove that Shaye lives on! I am not a big heavy metal music fan, but the Blood Farmers does sound a little bit interesting, and I heard that Fornier was involved with that. But his best work, of course, was his work on the Shaye videos. Thank you fans and thank you California Institute of Abnormalarts for keeping the Shaye spirit thriving, even in 2015.

About a year ago i found out about the whole work(it started with the hand thing).
Unfortunately, i also was informed that the creator tragically died.
Behind every alter ego, there is still a human being and it is really heart-warming for me to see that you and the community were
like a little family to him.
Eric will still live through the internet and the whole community!
RIP Eric Fournier and my deepest respect and empathy to the whole team.

I show everyone The Hand Thing whenever I get the chance because it's just one of those things that just has to be experienced. Your works of art were bizarre, absolutely, but that is what makes them so amazing and timeless. Shaye Saint John is a character that will no doubt live forever in all of our hearts, including mine, and I hope you're still up to your skin-tape-filled antics in the great beyond, Eric.

You opened my eyes to a new world of outsider conceptual film art. Eric, I am so sorry that you suffered so long, but I hope that bringing Shaye to life helped to give you some semblance of catharsis in the face of this superficial and bizarre world we live in. I'm genuinely upset that I hadn't found out about Shaye and Eric until this last year. Experiencing the genius phenomena of Shaye at her pinnacle would have been my dream for artistic expression, and I would have relentlessly spread her charm to the masses. You were a legitimate pioneer and a truly original artist, Eric, and I'm at least thankful that you introduced Shaye to the world. For her triumphs will be digitally eternal and idolized for generations to come... Cheers.
