Columbus, GA- Virginia Trawick Dudley Storey, 89, of Columbus, GA died Monday, August 22, 2011 in Columbus.
A Memorial Service will be held 4:00 PM Friday, August 26, 2011 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Chaplain Vern Jordin officiating.
She was born February 16, 1922 in Columbus, GA the daughter of David Raiford Dudley and Margaret Ingraham Dudley. She was raised in the St. Elmo area and attended Columbus High School. In her early years, she worked at Kirvens and the Columbus Ledger. On September 10, 1948, she married Emmett Leroy Storey and they were blessed with three children. She was a very gentle, loving mother. She was a long time member of Wynnton Baptist Church, later named Wynnbrook Baptist where she was chairwoman of the Flower Committee and was always known as the "Flower Lady" for over 25 years.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Frederick "Ric" Raiford Storey, brother, Dave Dudley, Jr., and sisters, Carrie Ingraham Dudley Revie and Margaret Wood Dudley Pruitt.
Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, Emmett Leroy Storey, son, William Dudley Storey of Midland, GA, daughter, Anne Louise Erickson of Frisco, CO, four grandchildren, Raiford Storey of Atlanta, GA, Joel Erickson of California, Matthew Erickson of Alaska and Holly Halstead of Columbus, GA, grandstepson, Damon Talley of Hedgesville, WV, one great grandchild, Ava Halstead of Columbus, GA, sister, Mary Dudley Leaphart of Kirkland, WA, nieces, Caroline Pruitt Conner, Nancy Pruitt Davis and Allison Leaphart, and nephews, Dudley and Andy Revie and Charles and Dudley Leaphart.
