Lisa and Ethan, I just today heard of Pete's passing. My sadness goes beyond words. Although I did not know Pete well, I did know him through my friendship with you. He was always supportive of everything you did--even bringing fabric to my house to make the attendance banners for JBA. You shared so many hobbies---your dogs, camping, hiking---and most of all the love of your son Ethan. God will grant you peace and acceptance as your family and friends continue to love and support you. I will share your news with my church. We will continue to pray for you and Ethan.
Much love to you,

Lisa,
I just learned of your tragic loss. I remember Pete coming by the FRC during my practicum days. Always a smile, always helping out! Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts & prayers. It takes me back to a quote someone told me after my dad's passing, "The best and most beautiful things cannot be seen or touched, they are felt with the heart." (H. Keller) Although there are no words that can heal your pain, I know that the memories, love, and dedication he had for you & Ethan will live on forever.Much love & prayer!

Lisa, I do not believe I have ever had the pleasure of meeting you. Like many, I know Peter from Baxter Station. Over the years I have walked across the welcome mat known as Pete. He is many things to many people, but I could not sum it up any better than Mr. Burch who noted "He always made you feel special when in fact it was he that was the special one." I considered it a great honor when he said "call me Peter if you like". He never commanded respect, but certainly deserved it... a most unique gentleman. Peter will be greatly missed.

God bless you and Ethan in these difficult times.

Lisa,

I knew Pete from the Old Louisville Softball League. He was one of the most genuinely nice people I have ever met. I never played on Pete's team, but he always greeted me with a warm welcome and asked how things were going. He touched many of us in his quiet and gentle manner. He will live on in our hearts and thoughts.

Dear Lisa and Ethan & Mark Aarvig and the rest of the family:

I am sorry and sad for your unexpected loss. It is never easy to have lost someone that means so much especially without warning.

I will always remember with fondness the warm welcome I received from Pete when I walked in Baxter Station. A bright and cheerfull "Hello Bob". "What can I do for you Sir?" Of course, when the computer program was locking up and he was working on that, you had to wait for him to finish before you heard the warm greeting.

My prayers and thoughts are with you and if I can do anything to help, please know you can call on me.

What a gift of life he provided for others in his passing and an incredibly unselfish gift of love you (his family) chose in your grief and shock. May you (his family and friends) rely on God's strength in this difficult season of your lives. My heart is hurting for all of you.

The entire Aarvig family,
Wow - I cannot even believe I have just read this. I just saw Pete a few months ago at my brother-in-laws wedding. I graduated from Central with Pete. We were close friends and he did have the kindest heart. I am so sorry for your loss. While there are no words that may take away the hurt, may the Lord comfort you in knowing how blessed we all are to have known Pete. May the Lord be with all of you and continue to bless you & guide you through this most difficult time. There is an angel watching over you from Heaven now. He will never be farther away than your hearts. God bless. Love, in Christ,

Lisa,

I am so sorry. Even though you and I have never met and my contact with Pete was very limited, I want share with you an experience I had with him that, I think, truly exemplifies who he was.

Long ago, I worked at Jack Fry's and was asked to cover a shift at Bauer's, where he managed. Being young and feeling out-of-place, I leaned heavily on Pete to help show me the ropes. He made this potentially awkward experience very easy and very positive.

Almost every time I saw Pete after that, I would remind him of that experience. But he never remembered. I believe this is because, even though it was big deal to me, that day didn't stand out above any other day for him - he was nice to everyone, all of the time. That's how I'll always remember Pete.

My thoughts are with you and your family.
