My wife and I were deeply saddened to hear of Harold's passing. Harold was an immensely gifted organist and educator. I was privileged and honored to have him as a friend and also as accompanist at my HSPVA senior recital in 1985. Years later, Harold graciously agreed to travel to San Antonio,Texas to perform on the organ at my wedding. It was truly splendid! I will always remember Harold's kind and giving nature and the "hearty" laugh that personified his optimistic spirit.

Marcia and Kermit, I'm so sorry for the loss of your brother. I first met Harold when I became his math student in Algebra II at HSPVA in 1982. That began our 34-year friendship, which encompassed everything from violin and piano recitals, trips to the best water parks in Texas, handbells at First Presbyterian, several HSPVA tours, with Norway in 1986 being the most memorable, and the perpetual search for even more fantastic restaurants in Houston. I still have my pencil he passed out in Algebra II which reads, "AndlotheangeloftheLordcameuponthemandthegloryoftheLordshone". When I became a violin major at U of Houston, he began introducing me to the more contemporary music composed for violin and organ, and lots of music by Olivier Messiaen. Shortly after I completed graduate school in Minneapolis and had joined the Minnesota Orchestra, we each developed Young-Onset Parkinson's within a few years of each other. He was my steadfast friend, and the very first person on a plane to Minneapolis to visit me after I was diagnosed with the same illness he'd begun gracefully navigating his way through only a few years earlier. He was always my best cheerleader through the unpredictable world of being a professional musician with Parkinson's, and I hope I was often the same for him. His eloquence, humor, loving nature, and eternal optimism has had a profound influence on my life, and I'm sure it will continue to do so. My prayers are with you, and Harold will be missed by so many.

Love,
Kristin Brinkmann

Harold was a wonderful and a truly gifted musician. I remember when our choir went to Scotland and all of the organ stops were on the opposite side he was used to . He adjusted beautifully and never missed a beat. He was a member of our running group the Mimosa Milers and we meet each Saturday for our run and Harold was always out front. He was a humble person but truly gifted. My life was enriched with his friendship.

Our family was blessed to know Harold as the organist for our choir at First Presbyterian, as our daughter's patient, creative math teacher at HSPVA and as our running buddy every Saturday morning with the Mimosa Milers. He was a precious man who will be missed by so many.

Dear McManus Family:
Harold Lynn was one of my first Organ major students at Mercer University. I will always remember him for his charm and wit. We visited many times when I lived in San Francisco; he also came to Tampa to visit me several times. May our Lord keep him in His arms forever. God Bless. James W. Carmichael

Harold will be greatly missed by many. The students at St. Joseph's Catholic School enjoyed singing in school Mass as Harold played the organ. He was such a kind as well as talented man.

Mr. McManus was my handbells teacher at HSPVA and he was such a sweet person. I was very shy and insecure and he always encouraged me. He was so enthusiastic about music and that energy was contagious. I could be having the worst day, and Mr. McManus' smile and cheerful nature would make my day. I'm so sorry to hear that he is gone - may Heaven be a brighter place now that his spirit is there.

If there was a better word to use besides blessed I would use it. Harold was my friend and teacher . We were reconnect by Facebook. Harold was my eighth grade gifted algebra teacher . I probably absorbed more in his class then any other math teacher . I'm sure that there was a spot in the heavenly choir for him. Condolences to his family and friends . To Harold's family and friends,
You are in my thoughts and prayers. I was blessed enough to have had Dr. McManus Sr. for my advisor and teacher at Mercer, and knowing Harold Jr. at St. Joseph's. They both loved the Lord very much and are missed here on earth. However, Harold is now playing for the heavenly choir.

Kermit and Marcia, I am saddened to read of Harold Lynn's passing. You and your families are in my thoughts and prayers.

September 17, 2016

Kermit, please accept my sympathy at the death of Harold Lynn. Coincidentally, my sister, Mary Goss Hughes, passed away last week at her home in Missouri, having had an aggressive form of Parkinson's. Our parents and those of my husband, Cecil A. Baldwin, Jr., were friends at Tattnall Square Baptist Church while we were children, and our mothers taught together at Pearl Stephens Elementary School. I have very fond memories of your parents and of you and your brother as young children. With caring thoughts and prayers, Julia Goss Baldwin
