Life changed March 16, 2011. Death came and brought a permanent shift from what was to what is. You are remembered; your work lives in thousands of musical memories and your boundless humor. Those of us touched by you in your 63 years of living remember you well. Thanks for the memories...

Even though time has passed, I still remember the enthusiasm, professionalism and love of music Mr. Boyer brought to the world. Especially to Allen. I work part-time with high school students today (though not related to music) and share with them the "story of Mr. Boyer" and the critical importance of keeping music in their life even if not their chosen field.

When at my daughter's recent concert band performance I found myself thinking of Mr. Boyer - my high school choir director from 1986-1989. I googled his name and came across his obituary. My best memories from high school were of Mr. Boyer - singing while he played the piano, what he taught about singing and music and all the amazing performances I had those years from O Fortuna, Les Miserables, Oh holy night, and the Hallelujah Chorus. I will never forget them. I am so very sorry for the loss of your dear friend and husband. It must be comforting to know how many people loved him and to know how many young lives he influenced as an amazing music teacher.

Dear departed husband, Rusty...
Ten years are marked by March 16. Life is different. March is a month that marks the passing of many of our close relatives and friends. March reminds me that I was fortunate enough to have been loved and cherished. I miss your laughter and companionship But all that loss teaches me to appreciate what I can do in new environments and that your faith in me supports me now.

I miss you Rusty. I often realize, in light of the events since your death, I have found comfort knowing that you were spared the hurt and tragedy covering our planet. Your positive thinking and productive energy may have been challenged by what weve experienced since 2011. I believe you remain at peace. And I am at peace knowing that. Im well provided for. Thank you for our first forty years and for the following nine I now have lived. Susan

I was a student of Mr. Boyer in his first year at Wm. Allen High School and was instantly impressed with this man in every way. Still have our record produced that year and remember it with a smile. Many years after graduation our paths crossed once again and this man remembered me (and my antics) by name. A truly good person, his life touched many and I,for one, am glad to have known and be taught him.

Hi Susan, Ayla and I (from Christ the king Church) were so fortunate to have had the pleasure and honor of having been taught by George, we have since moved to Florida and still sing at our church choir but although our time with George was short, we think of him often and continue to miss him. He will always be in our hearts.

Dear Susan,
I just learned of George's passing and was shocked to read the news. I remember George very well playing the organ at Temple Beth El for many years and also remember you singing in the choir. George assisted us with choosing our new organ for our new facility. I will always remember him with fond memories. May he rest in peace.

Dear Mrs. Boyer,
Only recently did I find out that George had passed away back in March, and on Sunday afternoon, I took a ride out to Christ Lutheran Church on Hamilton Street to listen to a concert in his honor. I couldn't help but smile at the selections chosen... many that I remembered were some of his favorites. It was a pleasure to hear those pieces again, knowing that George was a fan of them. I imagine he would have been pleased at the beautiful performances of "Impossible Dream" and "The Battle Hymn of the Republic."
I am sorry for your loss and hope that you are surrounded by many good friends as you move through this difficult time.
Fondly,

Dear Susan,
You may recall that I am the father of Allen High's Diana, who played piano and flute under your husband's direction and Alexander, who sang bass in the Chorus. Out of touch for several years, we have still always thought of George as a pillar of the Valley music scene, a man who enriched the lives of thousands. We think of him whenever we hear Carmina Burana. Although his passing is thus a loss to the community, we are thankful that you yourself are still among us with your wonderful voice and we pray that you will have the strength to go on for many more years.

Dear Susan,
I wanted to send late condolences to you. George was a great man. He left quite an impression on me. I am truly grateful to have had him as a teacher. Dear Susan;
I don't believe that we have ever met, but I just learned of Rusty's passing and wanted to share my fond remembrances of him. I met Rusty at WCSC where we were both organ students, me two years his junior. I have been traveling and performing out of the country and just recently re-established his acquaintance on Face Book. I was shocked by the news, and wish you strength and serenity at this difficult time.

Dear Susan,
I found out about Rusty only this morning. I do hope and pray that the past two months have brought you some measure of healing. Please accept my sincere condolences.
As you can see by the responses, the many influences of his remarkable life will live on, whether active in the hearts and minds of those he taught and mentored or reflected in many performances to come or in an enhanced love of music and of life passed on. As when a monumental stone is dropped into a wide pool, the far shores know its influence long after the event, so is his life’s effect.
It is profoundly sad to learn that he has left us here. I will miss him—I already do. I'm grateful for the time we shared re-establishing contact and visiting over this past Christmas season.
Still, it is a wonderful thing to be able to say of any man that he leaves a legacy that will nurture for many, many years to come. May we be so blessed when each we cross that frontier from these shadowlands into Lux Perpetua.
May God bless you and all you do.
With love,

Susan,
It still takes forever for news to reach us up here in Monroe County as only last Thursday I learned of George's death. What more can be said that has not already been said in this book of condolences. I only wish I had had the opportunity to work and sing with him more often. I was surprised several years ago when he asked me to sing in the ASO chorus for their Messiah. I didn't think he would have remembered me, a hick from the sticks, but I'm glad he did, I enjoyed the experience very much. I was touched by an E-mail I saw which you had sent out regarding the circumstances of his passing. They were almost identical to the account of the passing of Judge Samuel S. Dreher, who died here in Stroudsburg in 1893. It shows a peaceful death is granted to those who have lived the life of love and have shown it by their deeds.
I will ask my priest to pray a Panachida for George and his repose and I shall, in deepest appreciation for all he has done for me, sing the responses. May his memory be eternal for Christ is risen!

I remember "Rusty" from St Clair High! We were in the band together...and though I was a few years younger...both played piano and organ. I, too, became a music teacher.
When mom called me to tell me she had just heard of Rusty's passing I was so saddened. It seems like he touched thousands and thousands of lives. Blessings to him!
Mom heard him and his choir when he brought them to St Clair to perform at one of the local churches and she said it was just fabulous. She is so upset by his passing.
Bless you as you go on without him.

We have many fond memories of the two of you together at Temple Beth El and the delightful occasions when we were so fortunate to experience George playing the organ and to hear your lovely voice.

We feel blessed to have known each of you.
Please accept our condolences with profound and deep sorrow, tempered by the memories of the joy you and George have brought into our lives.

Dear Mrs. Boyer, People come into our lives for a reason. George was my choir director in 1975 at Allen High School. He was a great leader and really knew his music. I never dreamed i'd be singing in Latin but it was fun with George as our conductor. I'll always remember his little sayings like,"contemplate your navel." lol He will truly be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. May peace be with you.

Susan,
The loss, indeed is ours. George's passing has left many of us with so many gifts, like his endless talent, inspiration and passion. Here is where he lives...in ALL of our souls and here is where his energy continues. I mourn the loss with you, but rejoice knowing he has attained the highest accolade. All of those songs we sang and rehearsed countless times told us of the wonders of the next world...remember that and see his energy reappear each time those lyrics present themselves to us.
There has never been another conductor that has driven me as he did in chorale. You could say I was indeed spoiled, but he as well as you left me with the most wonderful memories of bringing all we had into the music. Thank you for that memory. May peace be with you and love.
Love, Heather Schadt Gogal

Dear Susan, I was so shocked to learn that George had passed away and offer you my deepest condolences. I was out of town and not reading the MCall. This world is a lot less musical without George and will be missed. May you find peace.

Dear Susan,
I was indeed shocked and saddened to hear of George's passing last Wednesday. As many people have expressed here, I can only recall the larger than life memories of his passion for his craft, which goes way back to my first encounter with him at the '72 County chorus festival and Beethoven's "Hallelujah" from the Mount of Olives. I still possess that LP and can remember his outstanding directions and confidence in us as the flegling musicians we were at that time! Of course, over the years, George and I got to know each other through the choir program at Christ Lutheran and I felt priviledged and honored to be asked to be his sub and bell choir director for a short time, in addition to singing with him in the 12th night festival choir. Many inspiring moments and memories remain from those days, as I'm also sure you know. He was certainly a 'people' person and had the personality to motivate, teach, and inspire. I will never forget his kindness and encouragement in many endeavors. My heart grieves but knows he is at rest after touching and inspiring the world with his musical talent and generous outpouring of love and passion.
May the Lord continue to bless you and keep you as you mourn his passing.

I am learning that because of the "no service" wish, people are finding their own ways to provide closure and the outpouring of emails and on line postings of their connection to George has brought about a more public sharing of his history than could have ever happened at one gathering. It has in some way, choreographed many to reconnect in the most positive of ways which will be more lasting. This page has now been made permanent and is the most fitting memorial. For myself, George and I discussed in depth the time one of us would depart in physical presence, and since his passing, daily, I am more open, enriched and filled with understanding I never had before. I mourn; I weep, I laugh, I embrace memories and only the very best is in my heart. I feel the finality of physical existence and the love and peace of eternal presence.
If that helps you understand how I am feeling, I hope it eases your concern for me. Never stop connecting and keep me with you always.

Dear Susan, my deepest sympathy for your loss. I was deeply saddened to learn of your husbands passing. George Boyer was an amazingly genuine man. I had the privilege of meeting this wonderful teacher while in the 7th grade of Raub Middle School. Mr. Boyer put out a district wide search for a male soprano able to handle the lead role in his upcoming production of "Amahl and the Night Visitors". I was fortunate enough to be awarded this role. Throughout my preparation for the role, I grew to know Mr. Boyer quite well. It was during this time that Mr. & Mrs. Boyer were almost second parents to me!!! I remember practicing at your home in Allentown’s south side, and still think of both of you every single time I pass by. I remember getting rides in the Pontiac Trans-Am I believe you both referred to as “The Jet”, and his beloved 3 series BMW. I still have, and just listened to, the audio cassette Mr. Boyer had made for me to practice. One side of the tape is just him playing and singing the “timing” of the songs, and the other side is the two of us singing together. I can remember sitting side by side at the piano playing together. Fantastic memories I will NEVER forget. I consider myself privileged to have known Mr. George Boyer for even the shortest period of time. Every May 18th, I will continue to think of and remember my “My Birthday Buddy”. He forever touched my life and the music in it. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Susan,
I am truly sorry for your loss. George had a great influence on me during the Lehigh Valley "chapter" of my life. He was a fiercely loyal colleague and a true friend. Although our association lasted only seven years, he gave me a lifetime of memories, first as "partners in crime" on the WAHS music faculty, then as associates in the Bel Canto Singers and Summerharmony. To this day those remain some of my most fun choral experiences. Add to that the annual Maastricht Easter cantata and Beth's Vocal Expressions group and you have a treasure trove of choice memories. Rusty was a consummate musician (as are you) and my life is infinitely richer for having known him. I pray for God's blessings in your life until you are with him again.

I had the priveledge to visit with the Boyers several times during the last year. I was so inspired that they chose to start life anew once more, making the move to Manhattan to begin yet another chapter in their already unigue and very full lives.
While many take this time in their lives to retire, travel and and enjoy the golden years, the Boyers chose to find new adventures and keep right on working. For them, that is what makes life interesting, happy, and fulfilling.
I was one of the lucky ones to travel to Europe with George & Susan, summer of 81. They gave me, and so many other young adults a chance to see parts of the world, at a time in our lives when we really didn't expect to. They gave us golden opportunities to sing in places like Notre' Dame Cathedral and Chartre', and more.
We saw the great works of art by Michelangelo, DaVinci, The Dutch Masters, Van Gogh, Monet, and more - first hand, because he knew we should see it.
He took us to Dachau, because he knew we should learn from it.
He made friends out of strangers because that's just what he did, and it makes the world a better place.
He gave us places to remember. To borrow a line from from John Lennon/The Beatles, "I know I'll often stop and think about him."
He made us young ambassadors. He made us better people. Thank you George! We will always love you!

Dearest Susan
My deepest sympathy goes out to you. George was such a positive influence on so many people across the years. His love of music and life in general had such an impact of those of us he taught. He managed to instill in us a respect not only for music but also for our classmates and others around us. Through-out the years George touched so many young people at a critical time in their lives. Thank you for allowing us to borrow him.
From Choir, to Chorale, to West Chester, to American Music Abroad, to local theater, to my wedding; you both were there for me and helped mentor me in so many ways. One of my biggest regrets, especially now, has been that I allowed myself to lose touch with not only my classmates but with those like you and George that influenced my greatly.
Please know that you have been in my thoughts and prayers and will be for some time to come. Hopefully your many fond memories of George and the thousands of lives he touched will offer you some small piece of comfort during this difficult time.

Dear Mrs. Boyer,
I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of your husband. He was a very patient, encouraging and inspiring teacher. As a member of he AHS choir from 1973-1975, I was fortunate to have been able to sing such beautiful works as the Faure Requiem, Handel's Messiah and Heinrich Schuetz's works. I think fondly on the days we would go out Christmas Caroling through Allentown. I never dreamed how much the music would mean to me as I moved through life. For all of life's difficulties and tribulations, music and singing was the one constant that would always bring me joy. I still enjoy singing, whether in church or at concerts, Hallelujah chorus sing-alongs, with my kids. I have been able to communicate that love of music to my children, too.
We were so blessed to have Mr. Boyer in our lives.

Susan,
Last year, under George's artful direction, Lois Miller and I performed Love Letters. We rehearsed at your lovely home and much appreciated the hospitality.
George was clearly a talented man, biut it seemed to me that he reserved his greatest praise when he referenced your accomplishments - which he did early and often. He was clearly both loving, and so proud of you.
It's going to take some time before I get used to the idea that George's name - and wry sense of humor - will be missing from my e-mail inbox.
All of us who knew him, worked with him and respected him - we miss him already.

Dear Mrs. Boyer,
I want you to know what a tremendous inspiration your husband was to me when I was a member of the Allen High School Choir from 1973-75. I never considered myself a singer until I joined the choir. Under Mr. Boyer's patient, yet demanding, teaching and conducting I developed skills I didn't know I had. Today, more than 30 years later, singing is still an integral part of my life. I sing with the Philadelphia Singers Chorale and have performed many times with the Philadelphia Orchestra at the Kimmel Center, the Academy of Music and even several times at Carnegie Hall. We were so fortunate to experience such a high caliber of music at AHS. As a teacher myself, I know how unusual it is to hear the Faure Requiem and other great choral repertoire sung - and sung well - by high school students. I can still picture Mr. Boyer's enthusiastic conducting at those first period choir rehearsals at Allen. I know they gave me the inner joy, pride and sense of belonging I needed at a very turbulent time in my life. I will always think of him very fondly.

Dear Mrs. Boyer,
I was shocked and saddened to hear of Mr. Boyer's untimely passing. I know I will never forget his early morning choir classes at William Allen High School. Mr. Boyer loved a challenge since he attempted to take a sleepy motley crew of teenagers and train them to sing Handel's Messiah like a choir of heavenly angels...after much practice, guidance and chiding, I remember attendees stating our Christmas performance in 1981 seemed other worldly and beautiful...We attained his high standards of excellence.
I know his skills and talents will be put to good use in heaven because if Mr. Boyer can take a group of ragtag teenagers like us and train us to sing like angels, one can only imagine what the Heavenly Hosts will do under his tutelage.

My deepest condolences. I cannot remember my days at Allen without thinking of Mr. Boyer, nor sing in any choir or chorus without hearing his advice still echoing in my mind. He was a wonderful teacher, and will always be my favorite conductor. I remember the pride he instilled in us as members of the Allen choir. My senior year was the year with no chorale, but we did have a "mini" choir composed of those of us who sang in County Chorus. What fun we had! And what a joy to see him again at the Twelfth Night performances! He will truly be missed.

I am so sorry for your loss, Mrs. Boyer. I pray that you will feel the arms of a loving Father holding you up during this difficult time.
I've just spent that past 10 minutes or so reading note after note after note from former students like myself. Mr. Boyer will be remembered fondly for many years to come for his leadership and mentorship to countless young adults. I loved my time in choir at Allen High ('81-'83) and I grew leaps and bounds musically under his direction!
I consider myself blessed to have known Mr. Boyer, from Allen High, from Young's Music, and from other musical encounters over the years. His passing leaves an emptiness in the Lehigh Valley's musical community, just as his life left an indelible mark on it. Thank you for sharing him with us!
May God bless you abundantly.

I am so sorry to learn of George's passing. I sang in Masterworks Chorale under his direction and learned so much from him. I feel blessed that I had the experience of singing with him. I will keep you in my prayers.

My sister, Class of Allen High '72 and I, Class of '75, both sang under George. Choir was first period back then, a great way to start the day.He helped us all find our best singing voices! I was in the wonderful production of The Music Man so many hours were spent with him. He put together the best quartet for the play and we were so excited to perform for Meridith Wilson! But there will always be only one Music Man of the Lehigh Valley and that is Mr. George Boyer. My prayers are with you Mrs. Boyer.

Dear Mrs. Boyer and family,
I was indeed saddened to hear of George's passing. I feel truly privileged to have sung under his direction at Slatington High School when he conducted a piece for the '72 county chorus festival. To this day I can recall the rehearsal vividly. We were working on Beethoven's "Hallelujah" from the Mt. of Olives and he told us that we have to be as excited about this composition as we would any rock piece that we enjoy listening to! I was so inspired by how he motivated that chorus, and he is undoubtedly among the select group of teachers who really sparked me to become a professional music educator and organist.
Many years later, I was fortunate to work with him again as the Allen organ representative who I consulted with for the purchase and installation of my home organ. We shared some pleasant conversation and memories during the times that I got to speak with him or email.
He will be truly missed, and all those who came in contact with him are much better people for having had the opportunity. As the familiar Broadway song goes, "Because I knew you, I have been changed for good".
May you be comforted by the memories and stories of the profound impact George has had on countless numbers of musicians, students, teachers, and friends.
Sincerely,
Keith Symons

Dear Susan,
We are truly saddened to hear of George's sudden passing and are praying that you will find God's comfort in this time. I graduated from Allen High in '81 and remember theory classes with Mr. Boyer (I remember learning conducting skills from Mr. Boyer). I also remember always calling him Mr. Boyer when he would come into Young's Music Store until one day he told me he's not my teacher anymore I should call him George now.
George was such an anchor in the musical community here in the Lehigh Valley for more years than I can remember and he will truly be missed.
He was instrumental in instilling a true love for music in so many of us at Allen High and other venues in the community. I cannot tell you how many times people have come into the music store and said "George Boyer sent us". We could always tell his desire was see music become alive in people's hearts.
I pray that the music stays alive in your heart as well.
God Bless,

Rarely does a week go by that I don’t think about something related to Allen High music or George Boyer – a song, a person, a memory, or a place visited through the Chorale or American Music Abroad. He was the charismatic leader who knew how to motivate kids to care and succeed. He helped countless of us gain self-confidence as teens that has served us well as adults. Our thoughts are with you Susan. He will be missed!

I had the honor of being taught by Mr Boyer from 1981 through 1983 when I graduated and went on to The College of The Arts in Phila. I was in Chorale, choir, district chorus's state chorus and took voice lessons and many other music classes etc at Allen High School. Without him I would never have the knowledge, passion for music and the singing voice that I have today without him. He taught us about dediction of the art of vocal music, while being funny and telling us stories at the same time. I just started to catch up with him on facebook and didnt get a chance to write him a letter to him to thank him for all that he has done for me and for touching so many young peoples lives with his gift of being a great teacher and mentor. I will be eternally grateful. I am sure we will meet in heaven while he directs heavens choir and know that we all will be singing "The Hallelujah Chorus" together again.

Dear Susan,
You and
george have created a lasting legacy for the Lehigh Valley. Your lives gave pleasure to many people and inspiration to a generation of young people. I still remember that great production of "The Music Man" and Christmas always brought the Twelfth Night performance. George will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.

I will always remember how Devilish Mr. Boyer could be. It only took a little urging for him to play a little trick on the 1980 Allen High Choir. It was close to the bell, and we were breezing through The Hallelujah Chorus. We got all the way through the final line, waiting for that mercyful last few Hallllllleeeeelluuuujaaaahhhh's, and just was we were ready to blast out that last one, Mr. Boyer stops the rehearsal, and says, "Have a good weekend". He was so much a part of our lives.

Mr. Boyer was one of my son's greatest teachers. He would come home from Allen and be in almost constant praise of him. If anyone in the Lehigh Valley knew and could perform music it was Mr. Boyer. But, more inportantly he instilled discipline and values in Mike that few other teachers could. He will be sorely missed but heaven will be a lot brighter now. Farewell and Godspeed to a great soul.

Mrs. Boyer,
I am so sorry and saddened that Mr. Boyer has passed. He took me from an average singer in his Vocal class to bringing out a singing voice I never new existed. I spent many wonderful years singing for him in the WAHS Choir, Chorale, American Music Abroad and Christ Lutheran Church Choirs. Those are some of the best memories of my life and I have never sang better than I did for him. He was like a father figure to so many of us; teaching us important life lessons along the way. We will miss him terribly. My thoughts and prayers are with you Mrs. Boyer.

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Boyer.
I was a member of the Allen High School choir, Choraliers and the group Just Us.I have so many wonderful memories of performing throughout my high school years not only in the vocal groups, but in the musicals as well. I owe those memories to him. It was Mr. Boyer who planted the seed that grew into my love of music.
He touched so many through his love of music and we are all blessed because of that.
If I may borrow the words my mother spoke when I told her the sad news," there will be be a lot of beautiful music in heaven"

My condolences to all those whose lives have been touched by Mr. Boyer. He was a man who knew what he wanted, a man of high expectations. I was deeply saddened by Mr. Boyer's passing. He was my favorite teacher for so many reasons. His passion for music was evident each day. His enthusiasm was contagious and he motivated all of his students to be their best each and every day.
I was a member of the Allen Chorale for two years and I have many wonderful memories because of Mr. Boyer. Singing in the Allen Choir and Chorale was what I looked forward to each day in high school.
I have continued singing and have thought of Mr. Boyer so many times
over the years. I had the chance to reconnect with him at a school district meeting, many years ago. Mr. Boyer took a personal interest in each of his students and made them feel special.
Mr. Boyer gifted us with music and he will always be remembered!

Dear Susan - It is with great shock that we pause to send you this gentle note. I had to chuckle as I read the news article about George and his love for jokes, that he did! I have laughed many times in his presence and marveled at his musical offerings. I have the Allen Organ Company to thank for calling George a friend! He will be greatly missed!! Susan, know we will be thinking of you in the days ahead.

Mrs. Boyer, while I am saddened to hear the news, may you always find comfort in knowing the many ways Mr. Boyer inspired so many of us. It is very easy to give him credit for teaching us to love music, to learn music, and to appreciate music, it was all the other lessons that I think so many of us can look back on and say, "this is where it all started."
Mr. Boyer taught us respect, class, dignity, the joys of competition, the desire to see so many other places. These things and more are the reasons I feel, both my daughters have a "song" in them, a profound love of music, without any real effort from me, but definitely reinforced.
He will be missed, and I offer to you, my deepest condolences.

It saddens me deeply to learn of Mr. Boyer's passing. He was my choir director at Allen High from '74-'76. His talent for choral direction brought out the best in our voices, creating such a harmony of sound and spirit, the likes of which I had never experienced as a singer again.
I'll carefully be listening to the sound of angels singing and know that George is directing them.

Susan,
I am sad for all of us. The world was a better place with George Boyer in it. He had a keen mind, a quick wit which I thoroughly enjoyed, boundless energy for music and people, and he was a font of creative ideas in the Lehigh Valley. George was a very good judge of talent and he encouraged and promoted and worked tirelessly with young talent when he found it. George was always happy, gregarious, and fun to be around. He did seem to love his life. Susan Boyer was the reason for that, I'm certain. It must have been a fun ride with him for 40 years. You are in my thoughts.
Love,

To Susan, and all of George's loved ones, my condolences. As I grew older I wished I'd had a chance to tell him what he meant to me, the impact he had on me, as a teacher, musician, mentor, and friend. My senior year at Allen High,'83, he came to me, knowing that I was making a mistake with my future plans, and tried to tell me, guide me in other directions. I didn't see his wisdom, and I didn't listen. I still regret it. He was a gift from God to all whose lives he touched, may God rest his soul, and his choirs sing on.

As Choir Director at Allen High, George Boyer always made sure that our elders did not mistreat us. He took boys and girls, and made us men and women, better prepared for the real world. Whether we went on to use our voices in song, or to address the masses, we all remember how "Mr B." guided us towards adulthood. I have thought of him many times over the years, and especially tonight.

Sue, so sorry for your loss. I will always remember George's great sense of humor. He truly was a gifted man.

It's only now as a high school teacher and club sponsor, myself that I really appreciate all Mr. Boyer did for me and my peers. He showed and taught us dedication, commitment and love during every rehearsal and every performance in Choir and Chorale at Allen. I mean, European trips every summer with 20+ high school students?! Those are some of my best high school memories. But, as a teacher right now they would be my worst nightmare. Yet Mr. Boyer took groups year after year. I can only hope to influence one student the way that Mr. Boyer influenced so many of us.

Mrs. Boyer, the world has lost a great teacher, mentor, musicianand man with your husbands passing. What a prize the lord has gained. He changed my life forever and made everyday worthwhile. He believed in me when no one else would. He taught me to sing with a passion and express my feelings through music. He said Julie anyone can be a soprano but talent and work make a true alto. He gave me voice lessons for 4 years and when he insisted I try out for the American Music abroad choir my senior year I was stunned. When I was accepted and he announced it in choir practiceI was amazed and when he took me aside and said I knew you could do it those words changed my life. The musicals were a pleasure to be involved in and choir and choraliers made the day worthwhile. Thank you for sharing this wonderful man with us. We were truly blessed. Sing and lead the angels in song Mr. Boyer.

Like others have said, I feel so privileged to have had the chance to be in Mr. Boyer's choir at Allen, the Chorale and in the founding year of the music program for the Allentown Arts Academy. I went on to get a music degree in college and continue to find great joy in participation in musical groups and performance. I fondly remember Mr. Boyer's piano improv, "political" jokes and opinions, and his encouragement. I'm very sorry for his family and friends.
