Mrs. Holland, thank you for being such a huge part of raising me, the latch-key kid across the street. I always felt safe because I knew you were a rock solid presence with a keen awareness of all things on McKillop Court. I am now navigating life in the Big City, and I feel so glad to have a neighbor who gave me a chance to be a kid!
I had a fun time being a part of your life as well. I was never bored between learning about ceramics, quilts, baked goods and hearing all the lively story telling. I do all of the above now, and realized that you are the inspiration. Thanks so much for a lifelong gifts. You will be surely missed!
Love Always,

Millie your home felt like an extention of our home which was right across the street. We have great memories of our fun times. Especially celebrating the Canadian Thanksgiving in October. We appreciate you always being there after school for our daughter. We still use the quit you made.
You were a wonderful "one of a kind" person. We were always amazed at your life stories and how you persevered and raised a wonderful family. You touched many many lives. We were blessed by knowing you. The Deamants.

Grandma, We were all so blessed to have you in our lives, even if the distance made it harder to see each other, you were always in our hearts and conversations. My kids never got to meet you but they know pieces of you from our talks. I am sorry I was absent. I wish I had taken extra steps to talk to you more. I am glad you are with grandma and grandpa now. Please continue to watch over all of us. We love you so much and can't wait to see you one day. Thank you for everything you are.

To my dear sister Mildred.
I will never forget the day I met you for the first time. I was 21 years old. Gibb introduced me to you as Jake's friend. I put my arm around you. And you promptly gave me a good elbow to the ribs! Gib said, "Now that's a hell of a way to greet your brother for the first time." We laughed and hugged and have been close ever since. I have a lot of great memories of you!
You were so positive all the time. You were a ray of sunshine always shining on everyone and always so happy.
I will miss you dearly.
Your loving brother Pat and sister-in-law Jill.

For my big sister Mildred, with all my love...
I still remember, like it was yesterday the day I met you for the first time. I was 21 years old. Gibb introduced me as Jake's friend. I put my arm around you and you gave me a big elbow to the ribs. Gibb said, "Now that's a hell of a way to greet your brother for the first time!" We hugged and laughed and have been close ever since.
You were always very positive about everything and you were the sunshine in our life. You were an amazing woman! You made us very happy and we will miss you dearly.

grandma, i find it difficult to write this note because your passing caught me off guard, i think we all thought you would live forever. because i live so far away i wasn't able to see you as much as i use to. but i should tell you i thought of you almost every day. i pass along the stories of when you were young and living here in the Big Apple that was in the 1920's. 30's Broadway and Amsterdam is where you told me you lived. i have been there a few times trying to see what you did so long ago. i am sure you saw something different. i remember lots that you told me but what i remember most was the way you told your stories. your eyes would squint , almost closed as you talked about people and places from way back when, the stories were so vivid and colorful, now that i think of it almost like watching a movie. the movie of my grandma's life. thank you for sharing. that was another thing i remember about you. all your fruitcakes, rum cakes, ceramics, and quilts beer barrels , and so much more , i still have everything you gave me i sleep with your quilts every night and i keep my change in the ceramics you painted. i am sorry my children aren't old enough to know you personally but i will pass along your stories and crafts like you would have done. the last time i talked to you i told you i loved you. im not sure if you heard me then but if you are listening now
WE Love You Grandma. Robert, Wendy, Robert, Amanda

"Millie" me and my family were forunate to have known you. You did something special as making my youngest son's first blanket 15 years ago. That was the special person in you. I won't forget your warm smile and thoughtfulness. You can now smile with the Angels in Heaven.

Be Still
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.
