Grace Carter Gay

GAY Mrs. Grace Carter Gay passed away on February 3, 2012. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 15, 1913, and was a resident of Mobile and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, John Coleman Gay, CPA; her brother John Carter, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Carter, and her grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. John T. Gillison. Mrs. Gay was a volunteer with the Deep South Girl Scout Council for over 18 years, serving on the Board as Treasurer, and was an active Scout leader of Brownies, Juniors, and Seniors. She also served as a volunteer with Mobile County United Way fund drive on the Audit committee for many years. She was an accomplished musician, active in the musical field in Mobile, playing the piano and pipe organ. Mrs. Gay is survived by a daughter, Nancy Gay Morse (Thomas) of Daphne, Alabama; a sister, Helen Dresser of Peoria, Arizona; grandsons John Morse (Chivon) of Birmingham, Alabama and David Morse (Jill) of Montgomery, Alabama; great-granddaughters Tyler and Heidi Morse of Montgomery, Alabama; nieces Dr. Cynthia Holubik (Thomas) of Lubbock, Texas and Dr. Mary Anne Bruner (David) of Flagstaff, Arizona; nephews Paul Carter (Marty) and William Carter, both of San Antonio, Texas. She was loved, admired, and respected by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1900 Dauphin Street, Mobile, Alabama on Saturday, February 11, at 2:00. The family will greet friends in the church Parish Hall from 1:00 until the service begins. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be donated for the Memory Garden of Trinity Episcopal Church or to a charity of your choice.
