My deepest sympathies to the family. Pat was always a friend to everyone. A cheerful well spirited man who seemed to enjoy life. He joked how he left St. Marys to come to Montreal and that I did the reverse to keep the town's population even.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you Pat and with your family.

An Irish Funeral Prayer
Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Everything remains as it was.
The old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no sorrow in your tone.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort
Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was.
There is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.
All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting, when we meet again.

Kay and Julie, what a shock to hear of your loss of Pat, as I hadn't heard he was ill. I haven't seen him in years but he was a good friend of my late husband, Doug Ready back in St. Marys days. Pat was kind enough to write at the time of Doug's death 8 years ago.
I know you will miss Pat, your "other half" and Dad. I hope that your memories of happy times together will help you through these sad days. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Dunn Family, I would like to extend my deepest sympathies. We met at the St. Patrick's Charity Ball through working with Julie on the organization committee. My thoughts are with you both.

To the family I extend my deepest sympathies. I first met Pat at Imperial and most recently through the St-Patrick's Society. He was a great man who always took the time to make me feel welcome. My favourite memories were from Imperial and involved him calling me up every St-Patrick's Day to "irish-up my coffee". It's not everyday where a vice-president calls up an entry-level employee (who doesn't even work for him) to share a festive beverage.

Dear Kay and Julie, We were saddened to hear last evening of Pat's passing. He indeed put up a valiant and brave struggle. I remember last summer how glad I was to see him at the ITL golf outing. During the evening we had a wonderful trip down memory lane. He was certainly a significant leader of our research group, highly repsected and made a significant contribution throughout the years. Our thoughts and prayers are with you both and the rest of his family. As you may know, we are away until early December and will contact you on our return. With sympathy and love, Roger and Val Ackman.

Dear Kay and Julie,
How sad we were to hear of Pat's death. Bill and I will always remember the time that we spent together with you and Pat as you both guided us through the writing of our Engaged Encounter talks. His laugh was so contagious. We will miss his sense of humor and love of life. We are honored to have known such a kind and spiritual person. Our arms embrace you as you go through this difficult time. Our most heartfelt condolences, Bill, Rita, Rebecca and Daniel

I worked with Pat at Imperial Tobacco from the mid 70's to early 80's and will always remember him as a true gentleman. He was always friendly and a great boss and all around nice guy. It is with the greatest sadness that I hear of his passing. All my sympathies to his wife and daughter. I can still remember his joy on Julie's birth. Even though we lost touch over the years I often thought of him. May his memory live on! With greatest sympathy, Nancy Clare Friedmann

Dear Kay & Julie ~ I was saddened to learn of Pat's death. I was fortunate to have known him during his tenure as President of the St. Patrick Society while I was President of Innisfail. His friendship, advice and support were invaluable over the years and his legacy to the Irish community will be his kind and gentle manner. I will long remember his ready smile and counsel that helped make the road a little easier. Rest in peace, dear friend! (signed) Roberta Wheeler,
