Jesse David Walden

AGE: 25 • Oceanport

Jesse Walden, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2011. Jesse was born and raised in Long Branch and Oceanport. He moved to California when he was 18, where he trained and became a professional MMA (mixed martial arts) fighter. Then he moved to Colorado Springs, teaching adults and children at a local gym. Jesse competed all over the world, including Japan, South Africa, and Korea.

Jesse is survived by his parents, Daniel and Yvonne Walden; his brother, Timothy; and sister, Michelle. Jesse has touched so many lives.

In honor of his memory, there will be a celebration of his life at the family home at 12 noon Saturday, Aug. 6. Anyone who wishes to pay their respects is welcome to attend.

I was in the budo karate house with Walden. I'm sadden to hear this... I trained with him for over a year in the house I fought him everyday for over a year, he's the strongest kid I've ever met he had the warrior spirit just like me.....

I trained at AKA and worked at the Cardiff with him.Great guy and fun to be around. He was always happy. He was a tough sparring partner who gave it his all. He was a free spirit who put smiles on peoples faces and always respected others.He will be missed.RIP brother,

We are all so deeply saddened by this tragedy. I was looking at photos yesterday of Jesse, Donald and Gov. Christie Whitman when they went to the Statehouse back when they were in grade school in Long Branch.
