James McCord Obituary

Jim McCord, 74, of Midland, passed away on July 3, 2011. Born to Earl and Treva McCord in Overton, Texas, Jim was raised in East Texas. He served his country for several years in the U.S. Army, and moved to the Dallas area to earn a BBA at the University of Texas at Arlington, and begin his career. Following a long career as an accounting manager with ARCO Oil and Gas Company in Dallas, Midland, and Los Angeles, Jim retired in 1989, and energetically pursued a goal of perfecting his golf game. Although the goal proved elusive, he never tired of playing, and always enjoyed the journey and the many friends who shared his devotion to the game. Jim is survived by his wife, Kaylah of Midland; daughters, Donna Gay Herrell of Fort Worth, Texas, and Christy Herrera of Wichita Falls, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Wendy Finklea of Austin, Texas; and two grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2011, at Ellis Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Kayla,
I just heard about James today and I so regret that I did not know sooner. Just simply so that I could tell you that we all loved him that knew him and to let you now you are in my prayers. How very thankful I am that I had the opportunity to laugh and visit with him again this past reunion. He was truly one of a kind.
My God bless you and give you comfort.
Sincerely, Jeanne Estes Jeffers

Kaylah,
I can't tell you how sorry I was to hear about Jim. I have thought about nothing but the happy memories I have of our wonderful friendship. In fact I am certain that our two Jims have already gotten together and are planning a Golf Outing. We have done so much together over the years and if anyone understands what you are going through it's me. I will keep you and your family in my every thought and prayer. I love you and I hope you know how much I loved Jim. Hope to see you soon.

Kaylah, I was shocked to read about Jims passing. I am one of the greentree golfers. We shared the same frustrations with every round of golf.Jim was a gentleman and friend. Back in 1999 I was asked to write life insurance on the two of you. I have notified the insurance company of his passing. They will send the paperwork to me and I will call you to complete same. Again I am sorry for your loss. God bless you and your family. Tom
