James Wylie "Jim" McCord

Jim McCord, 74, of Midland, passed away on July 3, 2011. Born to Earl and Treva McCord in Overton, Texas, Jim was raised in East Texas. He served his country for several years in the U.S. Army, and moved to the Dallas area to earn a BBA at the University of Texas at Arlington, and begin his career. Following a long career as an accounting manager with ARCO Oil and Gas Company in Dallas, Midland, and Los Angeles, Jim retired in 1989, and energetically pursued a goal of perfecting his golf game. Although the goal proved elusive, he never tired of playing, and always enjoyed the journey and the many friends who shared his devotion to the game. Jim is survived by his wife, Kaylah of Midland; daughters, Donna Gay Herrell of Fort Worth, Texas, and Christy Herrera of Wichita Falls, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Wendy Finklea of Austin, Texas; and two grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2011, at Ellis Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
