Charles “Wooten” Spears, age 81, of Amity, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.
He was born on March 10, 1941, in Rosboro, the son of Charlie Warren Spears and Maggie Florene Craig. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Spears; his parents; his son, David Spears; his four sisters, Judy Miller, Virginia Quinones, Edna Harris, and Rhonda Wilder; and his brother, Marlon Spears.
Charles married the love of his life, Donna June Spears on December 7, 1962. He was a member of Amity Seventh Day Adventist Church. Charles was known for his work ethic, devoting 53 years of his life for working for Barksdale Lumber. He took amazing care of Coker Cemetery for many years. He always talked about his backroad trips with his best friend, Luther Jackson. He loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, playing cards and dominoes, running his dogs. Wooten was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who loved his family with all his heart. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his three sons and daughter-in-law, Charles “Charlie Horse” and Katherine Spears, Tracy Spears, and Donnie Bowser all of Amity; his grandchildren, Tiffany Spears-Gullett, Journey Spears, Rena and Albert Welch, Terry Spears, Jamie Spears, Tye Spears, Krystin Spears, Casey Bowser, Allie Purffioy, and Jessica Bowser; his great-grandchildren, Lauren, Ely, Aiden, Kavence, Reese, Chunk, Wraylin, Tripp, Naveah, and Ryleigh; his two brothers and sister-in-law, Ricky and Babs Spears and Bobby Spears; his sister, Shirley Davis; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 13, 2023, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood, 209 North Third Street, Glenwood, AR 71943.
