Chesley Michael Robertson was born on September 18, 1948, in Natchez, Mississippi and departed this world on October 22, 2025, at Windsor Manor Health and Rehab in Starke, Florida, following an extended illness.
Chesley's journey of life was notably marked by his dedication to the Department of Corrections, where he worked as both an instructor and director. His influence resonated throughout his career, particularly during his time instructing at Lake City Community College from 1977 to 1981, before assuming the role of director of training until his retirement in 2012. Graduation from Florida State University in 1980 with a bachelor's degree solidified his foundation of knowledge, which he generously shared with countless individuals seeking guidance.
In addition to his professional life, Chesley proudly served in the United States Navy for four years from 1973 to 1977, showcasing his deep sense of duty and commitment to his country. Chesley also cherished the simple joys of life, enjoying moments spent playing chess and fishing. Ever so health conscious, he was an avid runner and took pleasure in working out.
Family always held a special place in Chesley’s heart. He is survived by his son, Charles "Chad" Robertson; grandchildren, Kaylin Robertson and Chesley Hines "Ley" Robertson, V; great-grandchildren, Liliana and Ava Croker; his siblings, Kathy, Hines, and Jack Robertson, and brother-in-law, Chris Fortner his wife Michelle, along with their children: Lexi, Michael, and Cameron Fortner.
Chesley was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 37 years, Margaret "Ginger" Robertson; his son, Chesley Hines Robertson, IV; and his parents, Chesley Hines, II and Dana Steinhoff Robertson.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a memorial service to honor his life at 3:00 PM, both held at Archer-Milton Funeral Home, Lake Butler.
Chesley Michael Robertson had a heart that brought compassion and understanding to all and a legacy that will forever inspire those who had the privilege to know him.
