Donald "Donnie" Julian Neel, born November 12, 1950 in Zwolle, Louisiana to Julian and Lois Maxey Neel entered into rest on October 30, 2025 at his home in Florien, Louisiana.
Donnie is survived by his wife of 27 years, Rose Neel, daughters, Kim Neel of Many, Louisiana, April Remedies and husband, Chris of Shreveport, Louisiana; sons, Joey Remedies and wife, Candice of Florien, Louisiana and Paul Remedies and wife, Amanda of Florien, Louisiana; brother, Jerry Neel of Belmont, Louisiana; sister, Sarah Colston and husband, Billy of Many, Louisiana; twin brother, Ronnie Neel, and wife, Diane of Fort Jessup, Louisiana; grandchildren, Keaton, Kolton and Keely Leach (Luke), Zackary DeYoung (Laren), Anna Varnell (Dylan), Kody Deloach (Rhiannon), Lexi Deloach, Ashton DeLoach (Kylie), Austin DeLoach (Liz), Jon Blake Remedies (Lauren), Gage Remedies (Liberty), J Paul, Azah and Ruby Remedies; and great-grandchildren, Landry DeLoach, Levi DeLoach, Presley DeLoach, and Grant DeYoung.
Donnie graduated from Negreet High School. He began his 54-year grocery career at the age of 16 at Curtis Grocery in Many, Louisiana, and continued his career with Piggly Wiggly and Brookshire Brothers, where he became store director. He was a great influence on the young people who worked for him and made a lasting impression on their lives. He used his workplace as an opportunity to witness for the Lord.
His favorite hobby was horse riding. He loved riding at Kisatchie. This was a hobby that he enjoyed with his friends and family.
He loved his family, his kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They all had a special place in his heart.
Visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 9891 Texas Hwy, Many, Louisiana on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services celebrating Donnie’s life will be at Peason United Pentecostal Church, 10888 Hwy 118 Florien, Louisiana on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. with a viewing starting at 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Officiating the service will be Rev. Joey Remedies and Rev. Rod Buller. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Florien, Louisiana.
Honoring Donnie as pallbearers are Zackary DeYoung, Keaton Leach, Kolton Leach, Jon Blake Remedies, Gage Remedies, J Paul Remedies, and Azah Remedies. Honorary pallbearers are his great-grandchildren: Landry DeLoach, Levi DeLoach, Presley DeLoach, and Grant DeYoung.
