Elisa Chavera Obituary

Elisa Longoria Chavera, age 90, better known as “Licha or Lichita” passed away on October 22, 2025 surrounded by her children and her sisters. She was born on March 8, 1935 at Keystone Ranch in Pearsall to Guillermo and Micaela Longoria. She was a strong and faithful servant of God that believed and modeled the goodness in people. She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Luciano Longoria (Fidelia), Alberta Rodriguez (Simon), Donato Longoria, Eufemio Longoria (Julia), Marcela Vasquez, Genaro Longoria, and Abelardo Longoria. Also, precedes her in death is her ex-husband and father of her children, Angel “Gelo” Chavera and great grandson, Timothy Dylan Rawson.

Licha was a strong, giving, caring and remarkable woman whose warmth and love was felt by those that knew her. She loved conversing with people at her shop “Licha’s Curio Shop” where according to her she had the best Raspas and the cleanest Cascarones. She had a strong work ethic and believed that hard work and staying busy keeps you living. She grew up working in the fields, “Las Piscas” or “La Limpia". She spent many years working as a housekeeper at the Nursing Home where she demonstrated her many different talents and industrious skills.

Licha’s interest extended beyond her work. She loved working in her beautiful yard finding joy and pleasure caring for her rose bushes and her plants. But nothing brought her more joy and happiness than spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Oscar (Ina) Chavera, Robert (Dora) Chavera, Roy (Oralia) Chavera, Anita Chavera (Jesse Martinez); Grandchildren: Melinda (Tommy) Rawson, Sonny, Robert Jr., Tommy, Linda, Roy Jr., Jose Angel (Erika), Guillermo and Daniel Martinez; Great-grandchildren: Zachary, Bryan, Natalie, Eliza, Tre, Destiny, Alexis, Naomi, Memphis, Dustin, Ezabella, Lorena, JD, Hopie, Roy III, Jaci, Jaylee, and Joel; Great-Great grandchildren: Ariella and Sebastian: sisters: Maria Garcia (Late Benino), Felipa Garcia (Santos), and Sara Pichardo; along with numerous nieces and nephews and special close family friend, Dariah Gisclar.

As we celebrate this remarkable woman’s life, Elisa Longoria Chavera, will be deeply missed by her loved ones, but her legacy will continue to live through her children and grandchildren.

Serving as Pallbearers are: Robert Chavera, Jr., Tomas Chavera, Roy Chavera, Jr., Jose Angel Chavera, Guillermo Martinez, Daniel Martinez, Sonny Chavera, Melinda Rawson, and Linda Chavera.

Visitation and viewing will be on Friday, October 31, 2025 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at New Hope Church, 405 S. Garcia St., Pearsall, TX. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at New Hope Church, 10 a.m. Interment to follow after church service at Frio County Cemetery.
