Hannah Nicole Burke

Hannah was born on October 29, 2001, the youngest of three children. Two days later, she was out trick-or-treating with Evan and Tyler, dressed as a small pumpkin carried in the arms of her Mama. It’s no coincidence that she loved Halloween; celebrating her birthday combined with the decorating, dressing up, and trick-or-treating. . . as she got older, she loved handing out candy to the neighborhood kiddos, too.

When Hannah was 2 years old, Tyler accidentally hit her in the head with a baseball bat. A trip to the emergency room revealed a baseball-sized brain tumor we had no idea was there. We felt God’s hand guiding us along every step as Hannah’s journey began. She had successful surgery to remove the mass and then started monthly check-ups to keep an eye on things. At the end of 2004, a second smaller tumor was found, and Hannah started chemo and radiation treatments at the age of 3, as surgery was not an option. The radiation treatments were successful, and the second tumor stopped growing. Many years of her life included follow-up doctor appointments and dealing with the physical toll the radiation had taken on her body. While Hannah was affected by this at an early age, she did not let it define her as a person. She started kindergarten on time, and from an early age Hannah wore sparkly hats. Pink and purple as a little girl and later in life settled on her signature red hat. She was a blue jean kind of girl, and she loved wearing plaid shirts. She was known to speak her mind, especially when folks were acting up; we called it her Spiciness!!

As a little girl she loved Polly Pockets, Care Bears, and Scooby Doo and had amassed a large collection of each. In addition to watching every episode of Scooby Doo, Hannah also enjoyed watching anime with Evan. She loved going to Kansas to visit her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins for holidays and summer vacations. Hannah had a passion for drawing, crafts, and Legos and as she got older, she enjoyed creating things on her 3D printer and hanging out with her best friend Naomimarie. Hannah also loved to sing and would belt out Pink’s “Just Give Me a Reason” whenever she heard it on the radio. She was never shy about doing karaoke at parties, weddings and public places, so it’s no surprise she eventually joined her school choir. Her favorite band was Fall Out Boy, and she attended many of their concerts with Evan and Mom. She even recently received an inspiring video message from the band encouraging her to stay positive and to keep fighting. As she watched the video she said, “I love it, I’m their biggest fan”. Not only did Hannah have an ear for music; she also had a great sense of humor. She loved telling puns, stories, and jokes… she even made up a joke of her own: What kind of people go to Fed Ex? ... “People who are fed up with their Ex.”

Hannah grew up on the east side of Plano and attended McCall Elementary, Bowman Middle School, and Williams High School. She graduated from Plano East Senior High in 2020. After high school, she attended Collin College and was working toward her associate’s degree when, in October of 2024, some new tumors were found. This was quite a shock as the last 20 years had been very good, and Hannah was a healthy young adult. Even with this new diagnosis, Hannah kept a positive attitude. Her motto was Positive, Positive, Positive. She would tell jokes to the nurses and doctors who were taking care of her. She also sang a song to her new friend Mabel, who was in the room next to her at the hospital. Hannah always wanted to make everybody feel special. Hannah was the youngest of our family, but she was the shining light that always made every minute special. Her favorite bible verse is:

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16

Hannah means Favor or Grace; She was called home by Jesus on October 18, 2025. God gave her to us and now she is in his Kingdom forever. – Amen!

Hannah is survived by her loving parents Barry and Denice Burke; siblings Evan and Tyler Burke and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Peter and Shirley Ossi and maternal grandparents Ray and Gaye Williams.

The family will receive friends for visitation and refreshments from 6-8:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Allen Family Funeral Options.

There will be a celebration of Hannah’s life at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 30, 2025, at The Heights Church, with Dr. Gary Singleton officiating. 

Hannah will be laid to rest at Fitzhugh Cemetery, Lucas, Texas.
