The night before she passed away, Lois Ann Imholte spent her last sunset surrounded by her family. She passed away at St. Cloud Hospital on October 24, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on October 29, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Saint Anthony in Watkins, MN. A visitation will be held from 9:00 – 11:00 AM. Interment will occur at the Church of Saint Anthony's Cemetery in Watkins, MN.
Lois was born to Urban and Mildred Arens on December 13, 1950, in Adrian, MN. She graduated from Fulda High School in 1968 and graduated with her 3-year RN from Sioux Valley Nursing school in Sioux Falls, SD. Lois met the love of her life, a Catholic farmer from Watkins, Dennis Imholte, on a blind date. They got engaged at the Grasshopper Chapel in September 1972, and the two were married 11 months later, on August 11, 1973, at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda, MN. Lois and Dennis lived south of Watkins, first in a rambler that they built and then on the family farm, and welcomed five children: Cindy, John, Steven, Michael, and Dale.
Lois started her nursing career in St. Cloud and spent most of it working in long-term care: Watkins, Cokato, and Litchfield. She loved her residents and the people she worked with. She was a friend and mentor to many co-workers and the many lives she touched through her kind ways, her hard-working mindset, and her ability to still have fun while doing her life’s work of caring for other people was greatly admired. Many tell stories of her beautiful singing voice and spending time singing with the residents. These included both fun songs as well as Christian hymns. Although she did finally formally retire from her nursing job, she never ended being the source for all medical questions, stitches being removed, or any symptoms or diagnosis that family or friends had questions about. Like a true nurse, the care she gave to others always surpassed the care she took of herself.
Lois loved spending her time visiting with family, especially her children, grandchildren, and godchildren. She liked to play cards and games and especially enjoyed doing Vowelless Word Searches. She liked to garden, crochet, sew, read saucy historical romance, watch TV with the sound off, and bake homemade items especially apple pie, homemade bread and buns, and peanut butter rice crispy bars (though don’t ask for the recipe, it was never the same). She liked watching the Twins and discussing them with her children and grandchildren. One of her favorite memories was the Twins game she attended with her family.
Lois is survived by her extraordinary husband, Dennis Imholte; her children, Cindy (James) Solvie of Morris; John (Rhonda) Imholte of Paynesville; Steven (Kristi) Imholte of St. Martin; and Dale (Valerie) Imholte of Eden Valley; and her 13 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Urban and Mildred Arens; sister Connie Kozitza; son Michael Imholte; and grandsons Benjamin Solvie and Thomas Imholte.
