Randy Jay Nelsen was born in Ogden, Utah, on March 28, 1952, to Jay O. and Ruth C. Nelsen. He grew up alongside his siblings Barbara Woods, Daryl Woods (Tom), and his late sisters Kathleen Nelsen and Jolene Archuleta.
Randy graduated from Weber County Adult Education in 1971. That same year, he married Pamela Stitt on May 7, 1971, and the two later reaffirmed their commitment to one another on October 31, 1988.
In 1972, Randy enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served his country faithfully until 1974.
Following his military service, Randy began a long and steady career as a Boiler Operator with FMC Corporation and retired after an impressive 39 years of service.
