VILLE PLATTE –A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 12:30 PM. Burial will take place in the Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery. Thomas “Tom” Thompson passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the age of 92.
Tom Thompson was born on November 5, 1930, Mamou, Louisiana to Artheon J. Thompson and Anna Vidrine Thompson. He was happily married to Emma Lou Fontenot Thompson for 58 years. Tom worked for 27 years with the Department of Transportation and Development. He enjoyed gardening and had a passion for Cajun French music. Tom will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 58 years, Emma Lou; 3 children, Liz Charlie and her husband, Roger, of Ville Platte, Paula Guillory of Ville Platte, and Alison Fruge and husband, Eric, of Madawaska, Maine; 5 grandchildren: Jennifer Charlie, Sarah Guillory, Ovelia Guillory, Jessica Bellow, and Liza Charlie, all of Ville Platte; 2 great-grandchildren, Owen Charlie and John Thomas Bellow.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Artheon and Anna Thompson, as well as 7 siblings.
Visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue Thursday, May 11, 2023, from 9:00 AM until 1200 PM.
Serving as pallbearers: Jennifer Charlie, Roger Charlie, Tyler Bellow, Eric Fruge, Kevin Poole, Richard Madrigal, and Owen Charlie (honorary).
