Vincent Smith, Sr., of Leander, Texas passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025. He was born on December 8, 1954, in Exmore, Virginia, to the late Jacob Giddens and Erma Smith. Vincent Sr. proudly served 20 years for his country in the United States Army, where he demonstrated courage, loyalty, and dedication. His service to his nation was a defining part of his life, and he carried that same sense of honor and commitment into his roles as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He continued his federal service with the United States Postal Service until his retirement.
At home, Vincent Smith Sr. was known for his steady presence, his warm laugh, and his ability to bring comfort and strength to those around him. Vincent Sr. will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, deep sense of duty, and quiet strength. His siblings remember him as a protector, friend, and source of guidance. His legacy lives on through the values he instilled in his children and grandchildren, the laughter he shared with his siblings, and the devotion he showed to those he loved.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanie Smith; his daughter, Olisa Smith of Leander, Texas; his son, Vincent Smith, Jr. (Katy) of San Antonio, Texas; four sisters, Erma Braxton of Exmore, Virginia, Addie Smith (William) of Exmore, Virginia, Violet Patterson (Edward) of Hampton, Virginia and Alice Giddens of Chester, Maryland; his brother, Thomas Smith, Sr. (Marietta) of Onancock, Virginia. He is also survived by two grandsons, Nathaniel and Tripp; three granddaughters, Tobyn, Poppy, and Saylor; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Freddie Dennis, Willie Sonny Smith, and Jacob Smith, and two sisters, Pearl Smith and Francis Smith.
He will be deeply missed but forever remembered. The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who have offered their love, prayers, and support during this time.
Graveside services will be held at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX, on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 11 am.
