Albert Eugene "Al" Niday

Memorial service for Albert "Al" Eugene Niday, 73, Silver Beach Ave. Daytona Beach, who died Thursday (July 23, 2009) at Halifax Medical Center, will be celebrated Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church with Father August Sorvillo officiating. Mr. Niday was born in Huntington, W.VA and moved to this area in August 2003 from Louisville, KY. An Army veteran of the Korean War, Al was an avid Ohio State University fan. In his younger years he worked part time collecting tickets at Ohio State University games. It was truly a job he loved. He later became a regional manager for Shoe Corp of America, Shonac, and then for Value City Retail Stores. After moving to Florida, he enjoyed working part time doing security at the speedway and collecting tolls on the beach. He was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church and enjoyed the outdoors and boating. A proud family man, Al cherished his time with family and friends. In lieu of other remembrances the family requests donations be made to the Heart of Volusia P.O. Box 3, Daytona Beach, FL 32115. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Nancy; two daughters, Gena Niday Latimer (Mike), Columbus, Ohio and Jennifer Niday, Satellite Beach, FL; a son, Jeffrey Niday (Linda), Palm Coast, FL; two brothers, Bruce (Cindy), Cape Coral, FL and Leonard, Huntington, W.VA; three sisters, Mary Kessick and Mildred Perry (Carl) both of Protorville, OH and Glenna Feher, Palm Coast, FL; six grandchildren, Craig, Daniel, Addison, Hannah, Lindsey and Mikayla.
