Jean Dobyns Obituary
Jean Carolyn Dobyns, 81, of Chula Vista, California, died in her home, February 23rd, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springfield, Missouri, the only child of John and Ora Reilly. She met the love of her life, John Dobyns, in the third grade at St. Agnes School. They were later married in 1952. Jean and John graduated from Southwest Missouri State College, shortly before John started his career as a Naval Aviator. Jean raised seven children as they moved from duty station to duty station, finally settling in Chula Vista. Jean was very involved at St. Rose of Lima, volunteering as a teaching assistant at the School and was active in the Altar and Rosary Society. As Eucharistic ministers, Jean and John took communion to those who could not attend mass on Sundays, and were very involved with the RCIA program.
She is survived by her seven children, twenty three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Jean was very passionate and devoted to her family, faith, and parish. She will be dearly missed by the family she lovingly led on her life journey.
A rosary for Jean will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 1, 2012 in Humphrey Mortuary, 753 Broadway, Chula Vista with a Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 2, 2012 in St. Rose of Lima Church, 293 H Street, Chula Vista. Internment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery next to her husband John. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to "Adopt a Student" at St Rose of Lima. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this most difficult time. Like all of you I to have wonderful memories of your mother and dad, booster parties, trips to Yuma, and other get togethers. She was a great lady and so proud of her family and rightfully so. Another Angel has been let into heaven.

My condolences to your family, My late mother, Nancy Ward. enjoyed serving on the County Grand Jury with Jean. I enjoyed socializing with the members at reunion events. These citizens served their community in an important way.
