Norma Lion Obituary

Published by News & Messenger on Feb. 5, 2012.
Norma Dale Lion Norma Dale Lion passed away February 3, 2012 in Manassas after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

She was born to the late Bergie and Ethel Jewell, June 15, 1925 in Luray. Norma Dale graduated from Fairfax High School in 1944 and worked for the Prince William County Commissioner of the Revenue Office from 1958 to 1988, when she retired as Taxation Supervisor. Following retirement, Norma Dale and her husband Ken enjoyed visiting their river house on the Little Wicomico on the Northern Neck, where they fished the Chesapeake Bay and enjoyed the relaxed pace of the area. They also traveled extensively throughout North America, Europe and Africa with dear friends Pete and Betty Anastasi, forming many new and meaningful memories. Norma Dale loved her family above all else, and she will be sadly missed by all those whose lives she touched. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 67 years, Kenworth Lion, Sr. of Manassas, and three devoted children: Kenworth Lion, Jr. and his wife Natalia, of Salisbury, Md., Alan Lion and his wife Jean of Wilmington, N.C., and Jo Ann Wolfrom and her husband Thomas of Bealeton. She is also survived by two brothers, Hunter Jewell of Culpeper, and Galen Jewell of Luray, as well as four grandchildren ( Ken Lion III, Stephanie Lion O'Donnell, Mandy Williams Wehrle, and Dale Ann Williams) and one step-granddaughter (Summer Cavanaugh) and eight great grandchildren (Jack, Max, Lexi, Dylan, Owen, Ellie, Emory, and Emily).

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2012 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center St., Manassas where a memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2012. Interment will be private.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association P. O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011. Condolences may be sent to:
