Lawrence Perlstein



Lawrence Perlstein, age 71, died on May 30, 2009, at his home in Woodbridge, Virginia.

Mr. Perlstein was born on August 2, 1937, in Leominster, Massachusetts, to the late Julius Perlstein and Gertrude (Sullivan) Perlstein.

Mr. Perlstein had a distinguished 20-year career in the Air Force, from 1955 to 1975. He then worked at Northern Virginia Community College's Woodbridge Campus, retiring in 1997. His remaining years were spent doing volunteer work at SERVE, Inc. in Manassas, and spending time with his daughter Joan Springfield, her husband Brian Springfield, and their two sons. His two grandsons, Loudon and Keaton Springfield, were his pride and joy.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 33 years, Mary Ann Perlstein; his father, Julius Perlstein, brother, Steve Perlstein, sister, Marilyn (Perlstein) Curley and aunt, Margaret Sullivan.

Survivors include her daughter, Joan, and her husband, Brian, of Dumfries, Virginia, and two grandsons, Loudon and Keaton; other survivors include his mother, Gertrude Perlstein and one sister, Rosalyn Melvard, of Shirley, Massachusetts.

A private memorial service will be on Friday, June 5, at Stonewall Memory Gardens in Manassas, Virginia.
