Ronny Vandon Cook

Ronny Vandon Cook, of Montclair Virginia, died Monday, October 4, 2010 at Potomac Hospital in Woodbridge, Virginia at the age of 72.

Mr. Cook is survived by his wife, Marilyn; son, David Cook; his daughters, Sharon Manderson and Michelle Cook; son-in-law, Jim Manderson; daughter-in-law Christi Cook; and four grandchildren; Christopher Cook, Austin Cook, Heather Manderson and Sarah Manderson. He is also survived by his two brothers, Ace and Clifford Cook, and his sister Peggy York.

Mr. Cook was born May 21, 1938, in Itmann, West Virginia to the late Clifford and Isabel Cook. He graduated from Mullens High School where he lettered in all sports and held the high-scoring basketball record for over 25 years. He attended West Virginia Tech where he met his devoted wife Marilyn and earned a bachelor's degree in Accounting. He later received a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Southern Methodist University.

Retiring after 30 years of service, Ronny was an auditor for the U.S. Departments of Agriculture and Justice. During the 1980s, he and his wife owned and operated a video rental business, "The Video Shop", in Manassas Virginia.

Ronny loved golf, bird watching, sports and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed history of the Old West and enjoyed traveling there with his wife Marilyn.

A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home in Woodbridge Virginia at 1:30 p.m. Family and friends are invited to the Cook home after the service for refreshments and fellowship. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation and the National Kidney Foundation.
