Louis Bartos Obituary

MECHANICSBURG — Louis Charles Bartos, 83, of 926 E. Chestnut St., Shamokin, passed away Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at his daughter's home in Mechanicsburg, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Aug. 25, 1927, in Atlas, and was a son of the late Charles and Frances (Piotrowski) Bartosiewicz.

Louis was married for 56 years to the former Anna Yezerski, who preceded him in death July 29, 2008.

He attended Mother of Consolation Parochial School, Mount Carmel, and was a 1945 graduate of Mount Carmel Township High School.

After graduation, he served in the United States Air Force and the Air Force Reserves during WWII.

He was a meteorologist, serving as weather observer in Germany, Labrador, Quebec, Canada and Bolling Field, Washington, D.C.

He worked for independent coal mines, P. P. and L., The News-Item and the U.S. Post Office in Shamokin for 35 years until his retirement.

He was a member of Mother Cabrini Church, Shamokin.

Louis was loved by his family and friends and will be missed dearly.

Survivors include three children and their spouses, Janet Reed and her husband, John, of Nicholasville, Ky., Thomas Bartos and his wife, Martha, of Elysburg, and Leslie Shurock and her husband, Jeff, of Mechanicsburg; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Anna, he was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Nancy; seven brothers, and two sisters.



BARTOS — Louis Charles Bartos, 83, of 926 E. Chestnut St., Shamokin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Mother Cabrini Church, 200 N. Shamokin St. at Webster Street, Shamokin, by a parish friar. Interment will be at a later date in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg. The viewing will be private for family members only. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Mr. Bartos's name to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, 17701, or www.cancer.org. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to James Kelley Funeral Home, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township.

To the family of Mr.Bartos. I am sorry to hear about your loss.Louie's suffering is now over and he can be reunited with his wonderful companion Anna. I will keep all of you in my prayers to get you all through these difficult times.
