Nancy McCracken Hintze

Nancy McCracken Hintze, 80, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at Avante at Harrisonburg.

Nancy was born in Waynesboro, Virginia, on August 6, 1930, a daughter of the late Dr. Roy and Laura McCracken.

She was a member of Saint John's Catholic Church in Waynesboro and graduated from Longwood College.

She was united in marriage on August 12, 1950, to Colin Francis Hintze, who survives.

Nancy is also survived by a daughter, Laura Daugherty and her husband, Dennis, of Weyers Cave; a sister, Ann Hoffman of Waynesboro; and a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Hintze of Lexington. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Brandon Hintze of Alexandria and Emily Hintze Erpelding of Chesapeake.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Colin Hintze.

A graveside service will be conducted 3 p.m. Friday, October 15, 2010, at Riverview Cemetery in Waynesboro with Pastor Denny Sites officiating.

The family will receive friends at the home of Laura Daugherty following the graveside service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 1160 Pepsi Place, Suite 306, Charlottesville, VA 22901.

Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater is in charge of arrangements.
