David J. Hintze, of Plover, passed away November 17, 2024, at Point Manor Assisted Living, at the age of 83.
David was born October 9, 1941, in Wausau, WI; son of the late Roy and Ruth (LeSage) Hintze, and eldest of three brothers. David grew up in the area where he attended local schools and graduated from Newman Catholic High School in 1959.
Following high school, David enrolled in the U.S. Air Force. While he was stationed in California, he met Victoria "Vicki" Prais. After his tour, David and Vicki were married and welcomed two beautiful children to their family; Scott and Stacy. Additionally, following his tour, David attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point which led him to a career in computer operations at Sentry Insurance. While David enjoyed his career, he retired early when Vicki was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's Disease. Although it was difficult, David was proud to be able to care for Vicki during her illness, demonstrating his devotion to her until her passing in 2001. After Vicki's passing, David met his partner, Ed, and once again, found companionship.
David was an artist at heart and expressed this skill in the kitchen and garden. He enjoyed cooking and baking and his meals made holidays very special. He also enjoyed his little garden to which he added fresh annual flowers, along with the no-fuss perennials. Above all else, David genuinely enjoyed a good "cuppa" coffee and good conversation with those he held dear. While he will be remembered for countless qualities, his friends and family will miss the artist he was. His eye for color when it came to interior design or anything that called for a bit of decoration, will be missed.
David is survived by his daughter, Stacy (Dominic) Mower; his son, Scott (Cece Kapsner) Hintze; his grandchildren, Theodore and Francesco; and his partner, Ed Engebretson. He is further survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Linda Hintze.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Vicki; his parents, Roy and Ruth; and his brother, Richard "Dick" Hintze.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the staff at Point Manor and Interim Hospice Services for their care and understanding. Without your support, this journey would have been much more difficult.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover, Wisconsin. Rev. Arturo Vigueras will officiate the service. The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday morning at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. A private family burial will take place at Guardian Angel Cemetery in Stevens Point.
Shuda Funeral Chapel- Stevens Point is honored to be assisting the family.
