Robert Greene Cash

Robert Greene Cash, 80, of Turk Mountain Lane, Waynesboro, widower of Dorothy Wimer Cash, and son of the late Samuel H. and Mary Lou Cash, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, while in church fellowshipping with God's people.

He was born on January 11, 1930, in Rockbridge County. Papa was a member of Wayside Baptist Church and where he was a trustee as well as a life time Deacon. He worked for many years at Associated Transport and had been co-owner of Fairway Stage Rental. In later years he worked at Central Virginia Rental.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Cash; and brothers, Morrison, Fauntleroy, Charles Edward, and John Lewis; and a sister, Mamie Hodge.

Loving and missing him are his daughters, Karen Blankenship and her husband, Randy, and Beverlee Davis and her husband, Donnie; three granddaughters that he cherished, Kandyce Rothgeb and her husband, Duane, with whom he made his home, Kara Blankenship and Paige Davis; four great- grandchildren, Corey Pyles, Cobey Rothgeb (his sidekick), Juli-an and Duane Jr. Rothgeb. He is also survived by his brothers Bruce, Herbert, Gene and Warren Cash; and numerous nephews and nieces. He also leaves behind his very special friend, Charlotte Tichenour, and his Wayside family.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, October 15, 2010, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 West Main Street.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2010, at Wayside Baptist Church by his Pastor Reverend Jerry Cline and son-in-law, the Reverend Randy Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Randy Brown, Jeff Kestner, Joe Harris Jr., Dallas Rittenhouse, Jim Puffenbarger, C.B. Tichenour, Nelson Cash, Stephen Cash, D.W. Cash and Gary Cash.

Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends attending the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wayside Baptist Missions, c/o Wayside Baptist Church, 45 Turk Mountain Road, Waynesboro, Virginia.

Dear family,
I just wanted to say that your in my thoughts and prayers. Papaw was such a special person. I alway's admired him, he was such a caring, compassionate man and he always had such a kind spirit. Our family will miss him greatly. I loved to here him pray, his prayers came straight from his heart. He encouraged everybody he was around. He will be greatly missed by everybody that knew him. He was everybodys papaw, we all loved him!
