Lucille Fitzgerald Cash RAPHINE

Lucille Fitzgerald Cash, 87, of Raphine, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at her residence.

She was born May 13, 1923, in Augusta County, the daughter of the late Allen G "Toby" and Phronie Frances (Anderson) Fitzgerald.

Mrs. Cash was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Tracy H. Cash; and a son, Tracy H. "Jake" Cash Jr.

She is survived by her four daughters, Phronia Jane Cash, Sheila C. Moneymaker and her fianc‚, Richard Cohron, Judy C. Cempe and her husband, Sten, and Juanita C. Funk and her husband, Alan; a sister, Beatrice Higgins; nine grandchildren, Eugenia Taylor and her husband, Randy, Larissa McClaren and her husband, James, Sheldon Cash and his wife, Stephanie, Geremy Moneymaker, Zachary, Ethan and Shannon Cempe, Allison and Bradley Funk; four great grandchildren, Hailey and Landon Cash, and Matthew and Morgan McClaren; a number of nieces and nephews; extended family includes, Timothy Asbell Jr., Jessica Meadows, Crystal Davis and Melissa Dopp.

Prior to retirement, Mrs. Cash was employed by Howard Johnsons Restaurant in Greenville and Whites Truck Stop in Raphine. She was a long-time member of Mount Joy Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Cash loved spending time with her family, friends and especially children. Like her husband, she always kept herself busy. She found happiness in tending her flowers and watching the birds. Lucille was quick-witted and her sense of humor was enjoyed by all.

She was also preceded in death by her special aunt, Cora Lee Myrtle; step-mother, Folcie Fitzgerald; four brothers, Lewis, Thomas, Ralph and Bruce Fitzgerald; and one sister, Ida F. Boyd;

The family would like to extend a special thank you to caregivers Darlene Simmons, Cindy Messer, Catherine Barrows, Judy Harris, Nicole Birchfield, Southern Care Hospice, and Dr. William Toomey and staff.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2011, at the Mount Joy Presbyterian Church by Pastors Don Cash and George Taylor.

Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be family members.

Honorary pallbearers will be Winfred Ramsey, Pat Cash, Lonnie Cash, Finley Campbell, Richard Brooks, Richard Bradley, Steve Boston, Clayton Painter, Roger Hays, and Phillip Painter.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm. Saturday January 8, 2011, at Henry Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Joy Presbyterian Church, 4709 Cold Springs Road, Raphine, VA 24472, or the charity of your choice.
