Phyllis G. Wright STAUNTON

Phyllis Rebecca (Grove) Wright, 88, widow of Calvin Coolidge Wright, of Ritchie Boulevard, died Sunday, October 31, 2010, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

She was born October 25, 1922, in Waynesboro, a daughter of the late Raymond and Glena (Coyner) Grove.

Prior to retirement, Mrs. Wright was employed by Western State Hospital.

She was a charter member of Linden Heights Baptist Church, where she served as a deacon, an active member of the choir and choir director for 29 years, a member of the Maude Van Lear Circle, and the Ruth Dorcas Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Happy Notes Singing Chorus and the Beverley Manor Homemakers Club, and former member of the Ever Young Singers.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Conrad L. Grove; a sister, Jean Anne (Grove) White; and an infant brother, Kenton M. Grove.

Family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Calvin "Rusty" and Wanda S. Wright of Staunton; a daughter, Rebecca Ann Wright of Staunton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, C. Whitney and Doris Grove of Forest and R. Carroll and Judy Grove of Waynesboro; two sisters, Mildred G. Weems of Waynesboro and M. Lucille Levan of Southern Store, North Carolina; grandchildren, C. Thomas Wright and his fiancee, Brigette Berbes, of Staunton, Aerial Rebecca Wright at home, and Gina and Dwayne Reinhart of Fredericksburg; two great- grandchildren, Kalee and Trever Reinhart; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, November 5, 2010, at Linden Heights Baptist Church by the Reverend David Anderson, the Reverend Leon Castle, and the Reverend Michael Fitzgerald. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Thursday, November 4, 2010, at Henry Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, Calvin Wright, 53 Fairfield Court, Staunton.
