Roy Nash Gwin, Jr., 69, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025, at his home in Waynesboro surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born on October 13, 1956, in Staunton to the late Roy Nash, Sr. and Farris Odessa Moyers Gwin.
Roy spent over forty years working as a welder and metal fabricator at Hall Industries in Fishersville and Mathers Construction Company in Waynesboro, where he was known for his skill and strong work ethic.
Outside of work, he enjoyed the things he loved most - spending time with his wife, family, and friends. He also loved loud southern rock music and riding on his Harley with his wife, Diane, as they embarked on all sorts of exciting and memorable trips. In recent years, he found new passions for golfing and jewelry making.
He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Diane Marie Gigandet Gwin; his sisters, Donna Michelle Gwin Mitchell (Donald) and Vicki Lynn Gwin Lyons (Mike); his niece, Michelle White (Connor); his cousin, Jeff Moyers (Debbie), and their son, Travis (Kim); his special mother-in-law, Davetta Gigandet Anderson; his sister-in-law, Susan McGuffin (Robbie); his brother-in-law, David Gigandet (Julia); and his special aunt, Shirley Back.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Raymond Joseph Gigandet.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 PM on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton.
A graveside service will immediately follow at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro with Pastor Scott Bolt officiating.
In lieu of flowers and food, memorial contributions may be made to the Virginia Chapter of the American Diabetes Association (P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116), Augusta Health Foundation – Cancer Center (P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939), or Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro Animal Shelter (1011 Lee Highway, Verona, VA 24482).
